    Default Record Deal

Ok. I have been a bit bored at work today and it's nearly home time. Here's a little thought. Please feel free to pick holes in it. Anything to free the board of insane Andy Rourke mumblings.
Martin Boorer has his own excellent recording studio in London.
Martin Boorer has his own record label (N.V Records)...do you see where this is going ?.
Ok so now we have a label, we have a studio.I am open to suggestions about a producer but I will throw in 3 names.Edwin Collins , Steve Albinni or Frank Black.
What is needed now is to get promotion and get the record into everywhere from Woolworths to Tower Records. We need a distribution deal.
When The Smiths were on Rough Trade it was a Micky Mouse label but The Cartel did a pretty job in distributing the records.Again we need suiggestions for this.

One of the main problems with "Maladjusted" was that there was next to no prmotion for this . I was in London at the time of release and so about 1 poster at Kings Cross.
Soooo we sign a distribution deal, we get top notch promotion and away we go!
Moz gets Spring in the U.K and his mum gets loads of opportunites to tell her only son to cut back on those gruelling 2 hour weeks he works
    Let battle commence.

Would he get on with Edwyn Collins ? I seem to remember him being fairly disparaging about Orange Juice on past occasions ? Otherwise, I think he'd be excellent.

This is interesting, tho' - AYPK Edwyn Collins is on Setanta, and I've heard the "Morrissey is singing to Setanta" rumour from several usually unreliable sources in the last few days. I'd imagine Setanta would love to have him, but I don't think they could afford him if Sanctuary can't. Maybe Edwyn Collins could influence him to sign - or at least let them handle his distribution

All of them :-) but I think the original albums are only available as Japanese imports ? ( http://www.101cd.com ) or on eBay. However, there's a recent Orange Juice and Edwyn Collins post-OJ career retrospective ("A Casual Introduction ...." ) that's IMHO quite a good starting point.

The first, Davie. Called 'you can't hide your love forever', I'm sick mentioning it. I've mentioned it about a million times (no exaggeration) on this board. Pay attention, Davie. Now go to the back. Off you go.

Someone has posted a denial from Setanta re: the Morrissey signing rumours on the main page, BTW (so back to my second-favourite Morrissey fantasy ...)

Can't pick any holes in that, Johnny (damn it!).

Any of the 3 possible producers you mentioned would probably be ok. I have a slight doubt about Frank Black , but in saying that, can't really say why exactly. Just something, I dunno, just.....something. You know what I mean.

Two words: Stephen ans Street, Perhaos I spelt his first name wrong, I am quite drunk....I know its extremely unlikely that Mr.Street will come back to Morrissey, but it seems a gpretty good idea to me at this moment in time...probably won't in the morning though.

This is why it is so obvious that Morrissey's "anarchical" beliefs are bullshit!

He claims that he's all for that crap (which all you have to do is listen to The Smith Peel Session interview to hear this for yourself) yet here he is at the ripe old age of 70, or whatever he is, and he won't sign a contract deal because the money isn't right.

    That's crap.
