    Default Sandie Shaw

Saw a vintage performance of Ms Shaw on TOTP2 last night. She looked VERY attractive and sultry...pity about the song. She is 56 today.
I know Morrissey and Sandie no longer speak but I thought the collaboration at the time was very exciting.
I remember the original performance of a bare footed Smiths and Sandie doing "Hand In Glove" on TOTP and it was amazing.Johnny really beefed up the sound on that single and seemed to really enjoy the extra limelight of being in a Morrissey-less Smiths.

For me the whole highlight of The Smiths and Sandie Shaw union was her amazing take on "Jeanne".Brilliant vocals.
Having said that.....she killed "Please Help The Cause Against Loneliness"
    Some you win....

    Agreed.

No, Moz "killed" that song by not releasing it! The dodgy out-take I've heard was the essence of a great song, but it's barely allowed to shine through the murkiness of the recording.

I think Sandie's version is eminently passable- in a Kirsty MacColl, upbeat kind of way.

Why don't they speak? Did they fall out or were they never really mates??

Not sure the exact reason Richey but the two have been hurling insults around about each other for years. Not quite as bitter as the ones Souxsie aimed at Morrissey after their brief stint of working together
In the words of one ex Morrissey associate,"He is unmanageable and virtually impossivble to work with".

Sandie Shaw was indeed great. did anyone see Suede on it? It was brilliant! Metal Mickey rocks. Trust Steve Wright to get the year wrong though.

Yep that was a great performance by Suede. I love that song and in fact I have loved a lot of their singles. The albums I have heard have generally been a bit week.

I think they released a collection of B-sides a few years back. Was it Sci-Fi Lullabies? Something like that. I remember it being pretty good.

I don't think there is one out at the moment David. Other than the B side collection that came out a few years ago. Let's hope one is on it's way.
