Question/views on drugs.

Ok.....so I was kinda wondering if anyone else has experienced this same thing lately? Has anyone noticed how coke is becoming very popular again, or is it just with people I know? I was thinking about this today because recently, over the past couple of years, more and more of my friends have started using coke again. Now, I am not really an anti-drug person at all. I have smoked weed off and on for the last 12 years of my life. Sometimes 5-6 times a week, sometimes once a month. It's kinda a lifestyle I feel, and not any type of negative issue with me or anyone I know(pretty much 90% of my friends smoke/have smoked). I experimented with the typical hallucinogens when I was younger: acid, shrooms, mescaline, etc. I was known to pop a few E's on the weekends during the mid-90's as well. Now, I got over all of that shit, and don't bother with it any more. It was fun at the time, but there's no point for me to continue with any of that stuff. As is with almost all of my friends, as we are all pretty much over the club scene, etc. We still party, at bars or friends houses, but mainly consisting of just drink and smoke. Which is all fine, but now it seems as if a lot of the people I know are doing coke again. I don't really have a problem with people doing coke, you can do whatever you want to do, but I honestly feel that people on coke are SO f***ING BORING..........really! You talk too much, you act way too excited over the most dull topics of conversation, you snort your nose way too much, your eyes bug out like soccer balls, you smoke way too many cigarettes, and you think you are God's gift to everything. Now call me crazy, but what is so appealing about that? I mean, ya........when you smoke weed, the only thing that might suffer is your high 7-11 bill, but I don't feel the need to talk the shit off of my friends' ear about my new shoes for 2 hours +. Lately, I have not been able to walk into a a bathroom at a party with out stumbling upon 6 or 7 people huddled around a compact, or a CD case. Some of us actually have to piss!!!!!! I mean, why does it have to be such a big presentation? Ya, I might have a platinum card, a $100.00 bill, and a Ween CD, but I don't have to whip them all out in front of everyone, and go "Let's do a f***ing rail!!" I know I'm ranting, but this is really irritating to me. Many of my friends were always the more hippie-ish/artsy/stoney crowd, but even all of them are grabbing for the powder when it's around. So, has anyone else noticed this same phenomenon occuring much more frequently among the people you know lately? I figure if the lot I hang out with is doing much more coke, then a lot of other people are too. Maybe it's just stoners and cokeys just don't mix. Imagine spending your evening with people fighting over whether to play Sigur Ros, or P-Funk.................?

i go to a big coke school and although i'm not strictly anti-drug, i personally would never do them. i'm f***ed up enough already! but anyway, coke is such a lame drug i've always thought. it screams "YUPPY" or "SLEAZY EIGHTIES PORN STAR" or "STUPID RICH COLLEGE KIDS." i dunno. it just seems to bourgeois to me, plus it can really mess you up! at least no one ever had a brain hemmorhage from pot and at least heroin makes you skinny.

They're alright with me

Illegal drugs are a critical part of youth. It's pretty impossible to find someone aged 30 that has not tried something once. I'm guilty to smoking herb, I'm guilty for inhaling nitrous, I'm guilty for dabbling with fungi, but should I be punished? I don't think I should, but some people certainly think so. In my perfect world there would be no such thing as illegal drugs. If you don't harm anyone then no one should be punished. Hell about an hour or so ago I was puffing on my pipe, no harm done.

II cents

Re: They're alright with me

i'm almost 20 and i haven't even touched a cigarette, let alone anything stronger. i think of drugs as a personal choice and i don't think they should be illegal. demonizing drugs and drug users only makes the problem worse and leads to increased crime (and in my opinion, curiosity on the part of uninformed people who may go on to abuse drugs). i don't think drug use is automatically drug abuse. that being said, i have never and will never do drugs. i don't even really like alcohol much. i've only drunk alcohol on like 5 occasions, 3 of which were in europe, and we all know that things you do overseas don't count (just kidding).

drug drug druggy

all of them, even heroin. but there should be more information about them, on the telly, on billboards and stuff. about the dangers and that.

i have done weed, mushrooms, pills and coke once or twice, but its not something I would ever make a habit of

It's not just people on coke who are boring. It's all drugs. Sadly, I have to include alcohol in that.
