PS.Maybe Cash could do Big Mouth or something as well if he's now in the covers market..!

yes! i heard it on NPR a few weeks ago! that was the funniest thing i had heard all day long.

one of his compilation albums is about the only country record i own. not including alt country as done by Vic Chesnutt or the Wilco/Billy Bragg albums.

No, but I'd love to hear it! Cash is badass.

Cash Is Da Man

U2 features Johnny Cash on the "Zooropa" album - singing "The Wanderer"... he's got a great talent...

Now that I've been reminded of the song title, I think Cash could do a fantastic cover of (your namesake) Rusholm Ruffians.

Re: New Cash album of covers

Details of his new album are at http://thebaron84.tripod.com/

& much respect to Johnny Cash for recordig Nick Lowe's 'The Beast in Me' many years ago......but still I'd LOVE to hear Morrissey sing Johnny's (did he write it?) 'It ain't me babe'

Re: New Cash album of covers

Yeah, I love Johnny Cash, and he is cool enough to cover Nick Cave, so why not Morrissey. Hell, he could make 'Ask' sound scary.

Gee, I thought you hated country music and looked down on its fans.

Well thankyou.. but its in his voice isn't it.. that Jack Daniels (Tennessee) drawl.. it's got an alluring quality. Any Smiths song would be a great cover for him.. Cash's voice has a sadness that couldn make some of Morrisseys most ironic lyrics just die with sadness.. Liek Cash's version fo U2's 'One'.

Glad its prompted some musical discussion at least..

If you want to play Personal Jesus acousic rock and role style.. its quite simple as well.... E A to the bridge G F

Ruffian (maybe I should call the band simply that)

You are right.. The Wanderer is probably (arguably) the best track on that generally (difficult) album.. Maybe thats what inspired him to do all these covers.

It sounds like a very bad 80's covers band

No mr.Tingle.. I meant call the band 'Ruffian' ha ha.. Not 'Simply That'! The bastard son of Mick Hucknell and Gary Barlow lives like a frankenstein monster with that monicle.

I KNEW you were going to say that. I don't like 'modern' country music. I very much like and respect classic C. music, like Cash, Patsy, etc. that is a little rock-a-billy and bluesy. Today's country is souless. There, ya happy Bumpkin?
