I have that question as well, official? Maybe Chris can shed some light on it on his next journal entry. Below is a piece of his latest entry explaing some more of why they are doing this. He even name checks Mindy there and a comment made about their journals being a soap opera. Come on Chris give us some more insight.

I suppose your wondering why out of the blue we decided to renovate the site. Liar and I have been discussing this for quite sometime. Since the month of September when we held our 'South With Morrissey' event in T.J. Mexico. There were of course many factors, but I won't discuss those. I'll enlighten you on some of the key points. The site is rapidly growing, a year online taught me especially that to survive on the net you have to update constantly or else people will lose interest. Second, people like to see something new every now and then. You really can't stay with the same format for years, you have to spice it up a bit so the visitors will know you are hard at work. Third, money is the prime setback for most sites. Money is the root of all evil, but you need it to enhance and change. Overall, change is good... "Out with the old - in with the new" as people always say.
Reading today's emails and reading the message boards, brought a smile to my face. Thank you Mindy...you little 19 year old vixen. So now we're a soap opera? Are we? Ha, thank you for the giggle! Well what can we say, these are our real lives and we really don't have to sugarcoat anything. So there...take it or leave it. Yes, I am may be a tad insane but everyone has a little bit of Jack the Ripper in them.

that still implies that its the official on-line representation of Morrissey, doesn't it? it doesn't matter if its printed or not.
you're starting to get into some legal issues with that sort of claim. kinda like if i made applique sweaters with morrissey pictures on them and told everyone they were official merchandise.

1. Any official site would have to be English.
2. Any official site would need to be just that, OFFICIAL & have Morrissey's blessing and the people running it would need to be able to contact him directly.
3. Any official site would have to be English (just in case you thought Morrissey's songs were about the US) DOH!

To be the official site it has to be sanctioned by Morrissey. And usually funded too. In other words, not gonna happen! :P

Everyone KNOWS Morrissey is English.
It makes no difference if a site is "English" or not, or what nationality the people running it are, or if it's a co.uk or .com
All that matters is if Morrissey wants a site to be his official site or not, and pays for it and gives them information. He can do whatever he likes.

1. Whys that? I thought Morrissey owns a home in the US and lives here at least part time.
2. OK and I thought there was some discussion on this board David T does have some contact with Morrissey and his site was mentioned on some interview
3. Thanks, and I always thought Morrissey was from NEW England. I had no idea he is from the UK. I thought Irish Blood, English Heart and The Queen is Dead were about the US. Thanks for clearing that up.
I still think David T is cool and has class.

It is not the official site. It is the OFFICIAL ONLINE FANZINE. The A.O site is claiming official of being the first interactive fanzine. the "Liar" responded, on his site. You kids need to brighten up. Boo hoo, we don't have a site let us bitch at other peoples efforts...

Please tell me how I am bitching about Ambitious-Outsiders by telling "butchie" that you can't just "claim" the title of official, it has to be bestowed by Mr. Morrissey.
I like A.O. and have downloaded many things from them, for which I am grateful. I was merely correcting the idiot who said they should just claim the title since David hasn't. (which is because he has the sense to know that you can't just claim it!)
