Many people (not me) seem to think that Morrissey needs a new band. James needs a new singer/lyricist. How's that for a match??

That would make me so so happy! There aren't many people who could replace Tim Booth, but Morrissey would actually be better.

Then maybe we'd get an album produced by Brian Eno! I've always thought he would be a good choice for Morrissey.

They used to be friends didn't they? Are they still? I read in the review of the RAH show that one of the blokes from James was there. Hmm.

Plus then he could still do his own stuff with the Lads, we'd get twice the Moz - sounds good to me!

    Default He can have both!

That's a really cool idea. James are a great band and if you've seen them live, you will get goosebumps imagining Moz onstage with them.
And of course then Morrissey could still do his own thing with the lads, and maybe a bit of friendly competition would give them the challenge they need to perk them up a bit? Couldn't hurt!
Not bad, Grillo, not bad at all.

What a brilliant idea! I've had visions of Morrissey singing with James. Somebody needs to get Morrissey on the telephone right now!!

Default let the right ones slip in, mozzy

    Let the right one in
    Let the old dreams die
    Let the wrong ones go
    They cannot
    They cannot
They cannot do what you want them to do
    Oh ...

Ah ... let the right one slip in
    Slip in
    Slip in

And when at last it does
I'd say you were within your rights to bite
The right one and say, "what kept you so long ?"

"What kept you so long ?"
    Oh ...

erm yes. they are another mancunian band. james and the smiths were mutual admirers and james had a similar style. the smiths covered their tune "what's the world," which i have a copy of.

and aztec camera is a very good band in any case. well when they are good, they are very very good anyway.

Ok, but please no more talk of Craig Gannon! And James don't sound at all like the Smiths, no one has ever sounded like the Smiths, sadly.

Does Eno come as part of the package? I'm not so keen on his own "music" but as a producer, very interesting.

I get what you're trying to say by quoting the lyrics to the song, but it just also happens to be one of the Lads' most transcendent performances!

And co-co-written by that "no-talent" Gaz, to boot!

    Very, very amusing.

    Cheers,

Thank's for the info, one more question. Do you know if Alain and Boz have ever written any songs together?

To the best of my knowledge, no. At least not for Morrissey or anything that's been released.

Oo, think of the possiblilities for set lists!
We could have Morrissey, James, and Smiths songs all in one show.
They could do a much better rendition of the Smiths songs, short of Johnny and Morrissey performing together again, it's about the closest we'd ever get!
Have to admit I was sceptical about them carrying on without Tim but with Morrissey, well.....
The bass player was at the Albert Hall so he must be a fan. Could this happen?
Probably not it would be too perfect.
Failing that Bernard Butler was at the show too, always wondered what would happen if he and Morrissey got together, but then again he seems like a bit of a crap Johnny Marr.
A collaboration with another band or guitarist might give the lads the kick up the arse they seem to need these days, or at least it might double his output, and more Morrissey can only be a good thing!
Always thought it would be funny if Morrissey covered Laid, maybe it will happen one day! Imagine there'd be quite a few lyric changes though -- What could he do with that line "she only comes when she's on top"???
