Hello Solo!

In the last month I won a lottery that made me a millionaire. I am from a european country and the money I won equals these sums in Pound and Dollar:

Pound: 3 647 584

Dollar: 5 571 278

I am still in shock of course and have just started to plan what I will do with the money like buying a nice apartment and car. This made me wonder if there are other Moz fans here at Solo that are millionaires in their respective countries?

Please tell us your story if you are.

i doubt theres really many stories to tell. most inherit or marry into money but maybe youre just lucky. theres also no repeating numbers in the first sum which is interesting. moneys weird here in the u.s as everyone doesnt talk about it much. i mean i doubt many people realize with aca how much dentists are raking in these days. most dentists i know are millionaires. they guy around baltimore who used to entertain kids as batman made millions by starting his own house cleaning service. best way to become a millionaire is to make a decent salary and live below your means for years until you have enough money to start earning decent money on your money

I'm a billionaire and I made the money giving blowjobs for $1 each. #dothemath #getmoneybitch

i would be so embarrassed if i got rich winning the lottery

I always wonder what people would do with the money after they win and secure themselves I.e buy nice house car pay off debt etc. travel forever which seems very empty and aimless. People who make lots of money through work seem to it almost as an obsession and use it for a lot of there work but how many rooms can you use. How many things can you have and utilize. I imagine that someone who gets "rich", which is in reality a very ambiguous term but we'll say super rich, kinda gets forced to look at themselves and look for purpose which is very scary in a way. You can live a socialites life I suppose but that seems horrible from the outside though I guess some pursue it. Getting rich must really ruin the quality of some people's lives i think

My profile pic is from last year when I won some money on a TV show. It's all gone now. Mostly given away.

I know we don't get on and don't usually address one another for both our sakes and sanity I think but this time I will just to say good for you. I know a bunch of what I'd call fairly wealthy people, let's not get into a discussion of what counts as wealthy, and I've only known two to give the majority of it to some charity or another. It's commendable

Oh, me too! I don't play those games because I'm afraid to win and other people know about it. Not because I actually know it's very difficult to win. I won the two times I went to a Casino and it was embarrassing, because I think the men in the tables helped me.

really? well that's nice though! are they supposed to do that? i would think that wouldn't be so bad because at least you wouldnt have to have your picture in the paper. i think if i won the lottery i'd try to get somebody to cash in the ticket for me, although i dont know how i'd do that without them scooping all the money. i never buy lottery tickets either. i still have some of the scratch ones from christmas that i havent scratched, cause i hate that shit. the shavings get everywhere.

I'll tell ya though from first hand experience there's no romance in being super poor despite what artists or musicians want to tell you. It's just fear anxiety worry concern for everyone you love and shame at not being able to do for those you love or protect them. The shame of feeling you've let them down and the mindless anger it all brings. I've got a lot of issues to this day about this subject. I've been on both sides of the street railroad tracks river etc and I haven't been able to be comfortable on either side despite trying really hard to just relax about it. I'm all internal conflict and contradiction

I was raised with the idea that there's a difference between (economical) misery and poverty. For some people that idea is completely unknown. It's all or nothing. Poverty is sometimes a choice, sometimes a fate. Thus I'm not afraid of poverty. But misery is unforgivable. If a society is not useful to put people out of misery is not a viable society, something is very wrong with it. It's only useful as a mean of oppression or exploitation.

This article explains it:

"Misery and poverty are frequently confused, because they are close-close, but located on either side of a limit. On one side, economic life is not assured; on the other side, it is assured. Beneath that limit, there's misery, no certainty of a viable life, constant risk; above the limit, the risk stops, and poor or rich, there is assurance. Immediately above the limit is poverty, and above that are the successive zones of affluence. All below is misery; poverty is only a little above; thus the two are close in quantity, closer than much affluence is to poverty. Judging only by quantity, wealth is much further from poverty than poverty is from misery; but between poverty and misery is a distinction in quality, in nature."

Money changes everything. You just have to be prepared for those changes.

I have a small house on a Greek island with a garden and a view. It's all I need to be happy.

This is true. I do t know where u guys live as economics and its usefulness depends on your country as it might offer more basic services or less. Money helps you have access to healthcare and education. It can be the difference in watching your parents die in misery or extending there years with you in comfort. It can be the difference In your children working themselves to a premature death in unhealthy circumstances or having jobs that will help them retire build equity and enjoy some part of there life. Stress is very unhealthy in so many ways and being really poor just makes if so much worse and ironically.lkmits the care you can get later. It's the difference in eatting well. It's he difference in the time you spend with your children and being there to guide them. Money buys so many advantages here in the u.s. and it makes a real difference in where you end up in life. Even just the networking with people who own things and are givers of opportunity is a very real advantage. It can start even in a primary school of worth which here means private school and money. Sure you can find exceptions but reality those exceptions are rare
