The Smiths instrumental versions of vocal songs?

How many known instrumentals of songs are there minus songs like Oscillate Wildly that were fully instrumentals. Basically songs that have vocals that also have instrumental versions, what demos, outtakes and everything else combinded. What are the known ones out there? For a completist point of view. Thank you.

Good question. Oscillate Wildly, Money Changes Everything, The Draize Train. I'm not aware of any Moz solo ones, apart from the leaked Get Back To The Ghetto and Children In Pieces. Can anyone add to the list? It's been a long day.

well I don't know them all and others would do better to list but theres lost on youtube plus instrumental versions of albums and original demos of almost everything plus some weird stuff. like this one claims to have the band covering Hendrix at the end of the clip unlisted. the instrumental versions of suedehead and shoplifters was neat as well. its nice to see the instrumentals of solo songs like more you ignore because they kinda show somewhat that the music isn't bad at all like some claim even if its less busy and overdubbed twenty times over like smiths songs. at least the ones done with troy tate.

check out them supposedly covering Hendrix

I think JDW meant instrumental versions of songs that were vocal Smiths tracks. Shoplifter demo etc....

Oki doki, i was going by uncleskinnys post, he said the draize train that has never had vocal so i assumed jdw wanted to know about both instrumental that contained vocals and those who did not.

The Draize Train never had vocals. Geoff Travis begged Morrissey to write lyrics, saying it was a sure-fire hit. But Morrissey did not.

Oh excuse me, i meant to say that you mentioned draize train, which did not have any vocals, not that you said it did not have vocals. That why i though he wanted to also know about instrumental tracks without any lyrics to begin with

Did he give a reason why he refused?

Some Smiths tracks were bootlegged as instrumental versions at soundchecks.
Instrumental versions of 'Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before' and 'This Charming Man' have been pieced together using the mastertracks supplied for one of those guitar computer games:

I still dream occasionally, that in another world where Morrissey stops blocking any further Smiths re-issues, that we would get lavish boxsets of each album, including full instrumental versions of each album, along with other discs of outtakes, and different versions and mixes, etc. Oh well, maybe in 30 years, when either Morrissey or Joyce has either died/and or buried the hatchet.

just look up hipster disco on youtube which is probably what you did as hes everywhere. he deserves to be

If you a search there's an unreleased song from a soundcheck in Dundalk. It sounds like a work in progress and could have ended up as Sheila or Panic. If you haven't heard it, it's an amazing listen - one of those very rare ones that few people have heard.

also try out ambitious outsider as hes some good stuff as well if not quite to hipters level
