I wish Johnny would cover the Fine Young Cannibals too.

Sigh.

It's the b-side of the RSD "I Feel You" release.

Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want (Live) / Johnny Marr - SoundCloud

Johnny Marr is set to mark this year’s Record Store Day with a numbered limited edition 7” release of his interpretation of Depeche Mode’s 1993 classic ‘I Feel You’. Marr played the track live during the closing shows of last December’s North American tour. The single’s b-side is a live version of The Smiths’ ‘Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want’.

Saw him at the 9:30 club in DC in November (posted pictures here), one of the best shows I have seen in a long, long time. He was incredible and covered all parts of his career.

i saw him during the messenger tour at 9:30 and it was good. im glad to see him doing solo records/new projects vs joining already established bands

Saw him supporting New Order at Jodrell Bank, can't explain it but with the Smiths stuff it seems a lot lighter and intricate when played by Johnny, whereas Morrissey s band seem to take a heavy handed approach to them. Maybe its because he wrote the music and feels it?

well being the two authors who wrote it do different things these days id say morrisseys arranges his version to highlights vocals while johnnys highlights the guitar part

Well Jesse came of age during the grunge era and a heavy sound has always been his thing. Obviously this is what Morrissey wants.
