Has Morrissey ever condemned The Grand National?

In recent times Morrissey has been particularly vocal about animal right issues, but has he ever publicly condemned the annual tradition of The Grand National? Seems like a logical choice? Right?

He can't make statements on everything.

He doesn't need to. He made his views very clear when he cancelled a projected show at Cheltenham Racecourse booked by a promoter who didn't join up the dots. I've never heard reports of him hob-knobbing at Chetenham Gold Cup or The Curragh with the Irish horsey trash set. If he did, I'd soon know. Deffo.

It's just another part of the 'idyllic' holocaust landscape for animals he describes in his Glastonbury Animal Rights Statement. Green fields, race-tracks, abbatoirs. Glue factory.

"Racecourse betting slip. Trophy hat wife getting pissed: I'm not a man!"

I never knew that, The Grand National though is a far more high profiled event and there's always an article or petition to stop the race each year, I've seen a couple just on my facebook this weekend.

Personally I think it's cruel and there's always a death each year. I'm a meat eater and I know it shouldn't really phase me but it's hard to support the pointless deaths just for a spectacle for posh toffs. I don't know, I'm surprised there's never been a TTY missive on the subject.

There has been. The fox-hunting landed gentry who infest the fields around Glastonbury are there at the invitation of Dairy Devil Michael Eavis. Glastonbury Music Festival takes place upon the graves of foxes, badger and dairy calves.

"I don't hunt myself, but I support the people who want to hunt. With all that's going on in the world, it was outrageous to ban it."

Eavis has allowed both fox and hare hunts to hunt all over his land before and after the 2005 hunting ban, so when he rattles on about peace and love and the hippy lifestyle, you know what a hunt supporting hypocrite he actually is.
