I was just looking at the responses here - and my phrasing. Even if the band topped it, it could still make the list. The key is that is was a great debut album. Totally random example:

Three Imaginary Boys, The Cure, 1979 - if you listed that, you think it is one of the best debut albums of the stated period (1979 to present).

Even if you believe Disintegration, The Cure, 1989 - is better than Three Imaginary Boys...it does not mean Three Imaginary Boys can't make your list.

I wanted to do my list the way I did: http://www.morrissey-solo.com/threa...th-10-bonus-picks-(if-you-must)-so-35-maximum

But since I've already started typing, I may as well start...

Ten, Pearl Jam, 1991

hmm good list again jeff. tigermilk kills every other belle and sebastian album hands down (arab strap comes close to matching it) and it was a school project which just adds to the purity of my love for it. also want to say to myself duh, the stone roses. its hard for me to qualify a best debut because most of the bands i love and think are great all made great debut albums and other later albums. i dont really like many bands that didnt make great debut albums. as to bg i didnt mean to insinuate that i meant the debut had to be the best but rather i just wanted to make that point about suede for no real reason. surfer rosa is a hard one for me as i dont think it there best, just to contradict what i just wrote somewhat, but i also dont think it entirely there record and for me thats sorta a dis qualifier. i dont think it that great but seeing sorry ma listed, i personally really enjoy the album but its not great, is really making me want to go listen to customer. "um, do you have sugarless". makes me think of being in highschool. im surprised no one had gnr on there list. dont like the band but its considered pretty good by many
