Support acts for Morrissey?

Have there been any whsipers about who could or should support Morrissey on the forthcoming tour? I'd rather like John Cooper Clarke to do forty minutes. Then again the fabulous Terry & Gerry seem to have teamed up again and I know Morrissey said he liked what they were doing back in, um, 1984. Morrissey supported by Terry & Gerry would be my dream billing.

I wish he would have no support act and play a longer set.

Unfortunately it won't happen.
He actually mentioned about it in an interview that he couldn't sing more than 90 minutes.

2012 Japan tour didn't have a support act, his set was roughly 90 minutes.

I think if he wanted to go for some bands in a similar vein Xiu Xiu, or Parenthetical Girls would be absolutely fantastic.

Karen Kilgariff.

Ah, I suspected as much. Still, I would rather there be no opening act. I've been to many concerts by many artists over the years, and can't remember being anything but impatient and/or bored while sitting through the opening act. Usually I just show up late and avoid them altogether.

Maybe eliminating the opening act would lower ticket prices and reduce potential for drama/ cancellations as well?

No opening act won't reduce ticket price (ticket price of Japanese tour was about $90 each), but potential for drama.

These days its generally someone who's name relates to a Smiths/Moz lyric, that or they have payed homage to how much they're influenced by him/The Smiths and regardless if they're any good or not...sad but true.
He's had the odd good one, Sons & Daughters to name but one.

sons and daughters are great except for there last album. didnt the libertines once open for him. maybe im just remembering that incorrectly. thats the only decent opener that comes to mind

Libertines supported Morrissey in 5th November 2002 at Brixton Academy.

They were also supposed to play during Meltdown festival in 2004, but due to Pete's drug problem they cancelled.

cool. libertines are alright. nice music but the lyrics dont say much to me

It would be cool if a band from each respective country, in that country, opened. Logistically, I believe this is more economical for all parties. Often, it gets the home crowd going. Morrissey has done this before (The Dears in Canada), etc. Perhaps, we could break this down by nation. Portugal would be the logical starting point. So, let's start with Sweden.
