Why would a once obsessed fan be so disappointed now?

If i offend anyone, and maybe this is unimportant to anyone, so in advance, I'm sorry. Morrissey was the centre of my universe, (i have 2 children and a husband now, so now he is part of my life rather than the controller of it)...I still love him, and will love him when he is a geriatric swinging his thing in Las Vegas and I am there with the other grannies and old codgers in decades to come....BUT, for the first time in my life I feel he has disappointed me!

It pains me to say it, and maybe it's not directly his fault...
but the sound where I was sitting in the Royal Albert Hall was hideous....I'm sure if I had a better seat it would have been clearer, but it was so muffled where I was....dare I say it....as a result I didnt really enjoy the concert as basically.....I couldnt actually hear it properly!

Once upon a time I was one of those who sat by the phone waiting for that magical moment when tickets go on sale and picked up ideal seating arrangements for his concerts....but now, in between breastfeeding my 8monthold and trying to retain control over my mad toddler, I didnt book at the optimum time, and managed to end up spending nearly 60pounds on the worst seats in the house for me and my husband, and 30pounds on a babysitter! I felt.....dare i say it....ripped off!

maybe fans in my category (mothers/wives) are not important to morrissey? my husband had gotten into morrissey/smiths via me, and now, well, since he heard nothing but muffled noise at the concert, i am on a kind of ban from playing his music as it has left a bad taste in his mouth....

other concerts i have been to have been magical, and at the last one I went to at the forum in Kentish town (just after my 1st son was born) i almost touched the hem of the garment...

but now I feel as though i have to accept my lot, accept paying huge amounts of money for bad sound quality. I can accept he was the size of a small animal from where I was sitting....but that's no excuse for bad sound!

Should the sound man be shot??? Who am I to blame???

I guess I am especially disappointed as I am unable to get out much now I am a mum, so I made special arrangements because Morrissey is important to me...
I guess I'm not important to him?

sorry to rant and rave...but I am truly disappointed!

It wasn't Morrissey's fault that Royal Albert Hall's sound system was inadequate. They are set up for opera, not rock concerts. Hold your grunge against RAH and rekindle your love of Moz.

Obsessed? Surely if that is the truth, poor sound from one concert wont disappoint too much. If you are obsessed then you will enjoy the next concert better and the sound man may be forgiven.

Maybe there are two songs you should go listen to right now:
1. WILL NEVER MARRY
2. THE END OF THE FAMILY LINE

It sounds as though your life has really gone downhill since you've married and popped out a couple of kids. In fact, you sound very bitter about it. You've lost your independence and spirit. You're pushing a stroller down the juice aisle at the supermarket and wondering how you got there.

So, no, I don't think Morrissey's music applies to you anymore. You should go get the newest Celine Dion release immediately.

"Is there any point ever having children?"
I think we now know the answer to that one.

My husband is into Jools Holland, so I went along with him last year to the Royal Albert Hall, and the sound was perfect...and other people have said that they have been to rock/pop concerts at RAH and the sound has been excellent...

I try to defend Moz to my husband by blaming it on the sound guy....he was probably a complete useless amateur....how can I get a msg to Moz to fire him!! that sound guy wasted hard earned cash because he was a lazy idiot who couldnt be bothered to let anyone who wasnt in the crowd in front of the stage experience the true genius of morrisey!

Moz shouldnt cut corners with his staff....his fanbase is at stake!

My love for him will never die....as long as I know my 'fan type', if you can call it that, can be accomodated in his heart...

fire the sound guy b*!&ard!!! have him sent before a firing squad and I will happily join in to pull the trigger!!!!!

You are obviously bitter as you are frightened that you will never marry and have children!
Morrissey isnt a religion whereby you listen to all the lyrics and follow them as though you'll be damned if you dont...
I'm 28 now....I got tired of being a lonely navel gazer....
so I have a life
I cant just pretend my passion for morrissey doesnt exist
He helped me through a very awkard adolesence, and i dont completely blame you as I too once quoted lyrics to other fans to try and defend myself as a more 'loyal fan'....
that's ridiculous, and oneday you will eat your words, i'd put money on it!

Cant afford anymore concerts...! not a rich woman! will have to wait till the next tour!

I know he can perform well, I was more disappointed for my husband who was a first timer...and now says last timer.

In the future I will go to more, but I will be on my own....unless one or both of my sons develops a passion through his genes...or jeans...for mozzer too....

See...not completely bitter....

I had just built up all my hopes for Wednesday night....and I couldnt prove to my husband how magical Morrissey truly is!

Dont worry love,Theres some right spanners who post on here that no matter what you say they would have picked a fault.

The sound system was ok if you were on the lower levels BUT on the higher levels it was wank!!

I read your post about about the Dublin show...

Im originally Australian, and the first moz show i was supposed to see was in sydney 11 years ago, and it was cancelled due to 'mysterious illness'....I was pissed off to the maximum, luckily we got our money back, but we had waited so long and were starving for his magic presence to grace our shores, but somehow it all blows over...I had to wait till I was all 'grown up' and could go to the UK to see a show.

I hope Morrissey can see how devoted we all are..... he is an expensive habit when he decides to be temperamental.... but like a battered wife we keep going back for more and more and more...... because he is soooooooo INCREDIBLY FANTASTIC!

gawd....your gonna think i'm a spanner next

I've been let down a few times and travelling from Brum to London on Mon-Tues has been loads of hassle BUT I enjoyed myself and one day there will be NO GIGS,NO RECORDS it will all be over.

I'll be well pissed off if anything happens to the Dublin shows.

Naww your not a spanner dear,If you read some of the posts you'd get the impression if Moz posted on here some of his SO CALLED fans actually hate him

Horses for courses I suppose,Its a strange world we live in

TA TA !!

Ouch, that was really harsh, downright bitchy, and uncalled for

I saw him last weekend in Berkeley, CA. in an amphitheater and it was one of the best concerts I have ever heard/experienced! Sounds like Albert Hall was the culprit for bad sound management, not Moz, he still reigns supreme! No ifs ands or butts!

Becks

sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the concert. I could hear everything ok when I went but I thought it lacked atmosphere as the hall was so huge and lots of people weren't getting into it.

As for your husband, if he's gone off Moz you should dump him (or at least refuse to cook for him/ do any housework until he buys you two tickets to the next Moz tour!)

Maybe conversion is not possible. I tend to think Morrissey/Smiths fans are born. Not made. So, don't worry about your husbands exepcetations.. let the children inherit your beautiful musical mantle.

No offence of course!

yeah, it seems almost childish on his end that he's doing this pouty thing of banning his records. Most people I know might complain a little bit, but they also have the sense to know that there are things such as technical difficulties.

seriously, i don't see how morrissey is to blame for you getting bad tickets. and what is he supposed to do? open a daycare center so that parents can make it to the show with no hassle? you know how the concerts are. survival of the fittest. but it seems that your husband is angry and you're looking for someone to blame because its made your marriage uncomfortable. Not that its your fault that there are bad seats in the house, but its impossible for any artist to plan out an evening with the assurance that everyone is going to equally enjoy the show. You get into a venue of that size, and you know that people in the nosebleed sections aren't going to have a raucous moshpit going like those on the floor and that should be common knowledge even before you agreed to buy the tickets.

I know it's taken a while for me to come back online....that's having babies for you, keeps you busy, stops you gazing at your navel for a while

I suppose I just hate that I had to pay nearly 60pounds for bad sound....other concerts at RAH sound fine in that position, why did Mozzer's sound guy fail so miserably where other lesser artist's sound guys dont have a problem?

If I had paid 10pounds a ticket for that seat, I would not complain, and would accept that I was paying for what I was getting....I was pissed off and venting....I have accepted that I am powerless to change what happened, and am moving on

I played my Vauxhall and I album yesterday while my husband was cooking dinner...he didnt have a problem....the banning incident lasted an extremely short period....:)

I played Vauxhall and I yesterday while he was cooking (he's very well trained ). He just wanted to know why the brilliance of the music couldnt be matched on stage... He was also gobsmacked to learn that Bowie was in the audience....he feels towards Bowie how I feel towards Moz.... so he doesnt hate Moz.... he just felt out of pocket being the breadwinner (and baker ) paying out such a huge amount for bad sound quality

Your baker husband sounds like me.. Bowie is another hero of mine. Although he's a bit too much of a chirpy cheeky chappy nowadays. preferred the dark moody, slightly off centre Bowie.

As for why can't the brilliance be matched. That's what live is about.. the atmosphere. OK, the sound wasn't all that on the night.. but it was an event. Something that wouldn't happen listening to the CD.

I just live music. and if its that bad.. well, there's always the bar. We're up to see the Music at the Astoria on thursday.. come along!

PS, does your husband want me to need any baps for him? I'm out of work at the moment and have some idle hands for the devils work to do!
