What bands / solo artists would you like to see that you have never seen ?

If we're talking about dead people or bands that will never reform (ahem...), the list is endless. Among the living, though, I'll say And Also The Trees is at the top of my list. They haven't done a US show since 1991.

suede/brett anderson solo/bernard butler in one of his many projects (for sure tops the list)

cursive

paul westerberg

black flag

... just to name a few. lucky enough that ive gotten to see a good many of my fav bands/artists play (dylan, bonnie raitt, wilco, decemberists, lemonheads, patrick wolf etc)

As far as realistically speaking:

The Replacements are my #1 right now.

Einstürzende Neubauten.

In 2010, they were set to play Webster Hall in NYC as part of a 30th anniversary North American tour. It had been six years since their last show in the US and it didn't seem likely they'd return. I was certain I'd never have an opportunity to see them live, but then those shows were announced and I couldn't believe it--I was beyond ecstatic. Sadly, the band had some issues with their visas and the tour got scrapped. They've been one of my favorite bands for years and I haven't given up on seeing them, but man was that a crushing disappointment.

Other than that, I've been very fortunate when it comes to seeing bands I love.

me too fred me too but i wasnt driving to chicagos riot fest to do it, to busy. in typical fashion paul decides to reunite the band at riot fest lol. so weird but very paul. do you ever list to his solo stuff. 14 songs is like the replacements album that never was (much much better than all shook down). mono was also amazing as well and so was the last one which i cant remember the name of right now). the last solo album had "is it suicide if its done in self defense" which is a song i love to death no pun intended.

To hear "Lady d'Arbanville " live would be quite spine tingling. I'm not sure if the band are still around. ( I haven't yet Googled). Good choice.

Yes, they're still going strong, touring and recording! They have a festival date this summer and a new album coming next year. Since it sounds like you're a fan, here's an amazing concert video from last year in France: http://youtu.be/-iOivHqNgpQ

I've accepted the fact that I'm going to have to travel if I ever want to see them, and it'll most likely have to be France or Germany.

Not many left really:

Pixies
Radiohead
Van Morrison
The Courteeners
Iggy Pop

wow how could i forget the pixies. i loved there new album especially snakes. i saw rediohead at merryweather when they were touring the bends opening for alanis morriset. greta memory

I like “14 Songs” but it’s very produced. I actually really like “All Shook Down”, it’s great for what it is (a fake Paul solo album). I much prefer his stuff with the Mats to solo though, whereas someone like Bob Mould I like his solo stuff sometimes just as much as his former bands.

I'm a huge 'Mats fan. I went to RiotFest to see them last year and it was awesome (I had seen them in post "Bob" incarnations in the past). Also have seen Paul on 2 solo tours.

They are playing around, you should see try to see them. I know they are playing in NYC which isn't too far from Philly!

I had tickets for Nirvana 1994 in Germany, but things developed differently.....

did you guys get the book all over but the shouting? i was disappointed and didnt think it held up to our band could be your life which has a great section on them. would love to see either paul or the mats, nice, play but i just have to make it work in terms of timing. after pleased to meet me they were pretty well produced from that point onward. if you do want something less produced but still with all of the spirit of the mats try mono, double album, fred as he recorded that one at home in his basement. its tied as my fav solo album by paul with 14 songs. 14 songs lyrically is the most witty funny clever paul album imo (five min of silence and chop shop. its also beautifully emotive with songs like black eyed susan and first glimmer of light. love that album to death and it still bleeds that unpretentious intelligence (Comic books, the Bible, road maps, pornography, anything you wanna read, go out and sit in a field sometime). tommys solo album is also surprisingly good and it reminds me of paul of course.

hey fred did you go the record store in hamden, enjoy your time in baltimore?

Sadly, it really is seeming more and more like that’s the only way I’ll get a chance to see them. I dunno though. I keep holding out for a Philly show. :)

Went to Celebrated Summer and got two Government Issue LP’s, which I’m pretty happy about. Checked out Atomic Books next door and we got the Mozipedia which we’d been looking for! It was a nice time for sure.

descendents, screeching weasel, nick cave, and fields of the nephilim

FinALLy (see what I did there?) got to see Descendents in 2011 at Riot Fest. It was great but man, I’d love a non-fest set but it seems like all they really can do at this point is big festivals due to scheduling, etc. Despite touring so much in the 90’s and early 00’s, I’ve yet to see ALL so I’d love to do that.

Saw Screeching Weasel twice, first in 2010 with the reunion lineup pre SXSW and then again this past June. Both times were GREAT. They sound amazing, definitely go if they come to your area.
