he did go to harvard lived in the dorms and got rejected from the choir. he grew a beard and walked around boston with a cane for whatever reason. he also recorded some solo music from this time period that you can track down. his hippie commune upbringing and the way he discovered music at such a late age in life was much more interesting though

Show last night at the Observatory was pretty amazing. They did almost two entire sets, first about eight acoustic faves with the house lights on, then the new album in completion with lots of graphics and video, then an encore. The place was packed.

Before the show Rivers strolled the crowd. I stood next to a girl who worked at the venue who was texting w the stage manager who said "I dunno what he's doing...he's meandering."

He's in the blue hoodie next to the pillar. He stood there several minutes. Nobody talked to him, they all just took pictures, it was surreal.

Then the album which is incredible live.

Bethany Cosentino from Best Coast sang the girl part on the one song..

Incredible show. Glad I rallied and went despite feeling feverish all night. Hope I didn't get anyone sick.
