Pre-show Videos 2014 - 2015

Re: Pre-show Videos 2014

"italian singer" is actually Charles Aznavour - "Emmenez-moi" (french-romanian), footage looks 60's

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JUgNcHl50o

At last night's show in Copenhagen elements of the crowd broke out in spontaneous applause at the end of this song as Charles whirled offstage. A nice moment. I checked and he's actually French/Armenian (not Romanian) and he seems to sing in 4 or 5 languages. He's currently 90 and still performing, with a couple of shows lined up between now and Christmas

Re: Pre-show Videos 2014

I can't believe no one has posted the most haunting new video clip yet...the one of Anne Sexton reading her poem "Wanting to Die."
Hearing that poem, hearing those words...in a dark arena....really moved me. :tears:

"Wanting to Die"

Since you ask, most days I cannot remember.
I walk in my clothing, unmarked by that voyage.
Then the almost unnameable lust returns.

Even then I have nothing against life.
I know well the grass blades you mention,
the furniture you have placed under the sun.

But suicides have a special language.
Like carpenters they want to know which tools.
They never ask why build.

Twice I have so simply declared myself,
have possessed the enemy, eaten the enemy,
have taken on his craft, his magic.

In this way, heavy and thoughtful,
warmer than oil or water,
I have rested, drooling at the mouth-hole.

I did not think of my body at needle point.
Even the cornea and the leftover urine were gone.
Suicides have already betrayed the body.

Still-born, they don’t always die,
but dazzled, they can’t forget a drug so sweet
that even children would look on and smile.

To thrust all that life under your tongue!—
that, all by itself, becomes a passion.
Death’s a sad bone; bruised, you’d say,

and yet she waits for me, year after year,
to so delicately undo an old wound,
to empty my breath from its bad prison.

Balanced there, suicides sometimes meet,
raging at the fruit a pumped-up moon,
leaving the bread they mistook for a kiss,

leaving the page of the book carelessly open,
something unsaid, the phone off the hook
and the love whatever it was, an infection.

Anne Sexton, “Wanting to Die” from The Complete Poems of Anne Sexton (Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1981).

Pre gig film

HI Guys
this is my first post here, so forgive if I overlook any protocols.
I have a question, at the Bournemouth show on Saturday (which was excellent) before Moz came on stage there was a short film showing various music and poetry...all very lovely. Enjoyed seeing the Ramones and Penetration among others. My question is during the film there was a video of a band kind of nu metal types singer had a red jumper on, does anyone know who they were??? was the film collated by Morrissey himself? were they favourites of his...Just seemed a little out of kilter with the rest of the film. Not bad, just out of kilter
thanks
Mark

I don't know who they were, I thought Morrissey had lost his marbles when it came on though. Out of kilter is more polite.

Sorry if I've misread, or wasn't paying attention on Saturday, but are the 2014 videos still the ones used now? Thanks!

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know what film the clips are from when Morrissey sings "I'm Not Man"?

Saw it in Bournemouth and it made me wonder!
