Remove the option to post as anonymous

Anyone who is sincere on a forum should be willing to post under a readily identifiable name to which they are answerable. I've not even been here long and already I've seen multiple arguments between users called Anonymous.

"If you wouldn't write it and sign it, don't say it." - Earl Wilson

That sums up my outlook on the internet and real life. Put your name to it or don't bother. It needn't be their real name or imply their actual identity.

Does anyone else think this might at least do away with the "you're the same person / answering your own posts" routine?

Thank you Kewpie that's a great help, I'll do just that. Admin feel free to delete this thread as it now seems to me surplus to requirement.

Re:

No worries, it comes up a lot. Kewpie mentioned an earlier post and I had started a document earlier with some further thoughts:

http://www.morrissey-solo.com/content/1345-General-Posting-Policy

It comes down to one of those 'you can't please everyone' things, but rest assured there has been a lot of thought given to the suggestion.

There has been a lot of that the last few days. Most are banned trolls or one banned troll and his sock puppet (himself). Makes it look like a bunch of people sharing the same opinion when if fact it is one person. Trolls. Cowards. Losers.

Problem with that is that people who are not registered (and lurkers) cannot read my blog. I did a little experiment and set a blog post to just contacts. And it got 20 views. Normally my blog posts get 100s of views. Sometimes 1000s. So if I block Unregistered Users, I essentially lose my blog readers--mostly lurkers--as well. Wonder if there is a way to solve this?

I am new to this, where can I read your blog please realitybites? Btw is realitybites from a Morrissey song if so which one out of interest. It kind of rings a bell but maybe not.

It would be helpful if each 'anonymous' comment was given a numeric identifier which could be re-used for further replies with a comment specific password to verify it's the same person making further replies. Not sure if the software would allow such a thing, but 'ownership' of 'anonymous' comments over time would be useful. It's very hard to take any 'anonymous' comment seriously as anyone else can respond 'anonymously' to any reply, whether sincerely or by taking the piss pretending to be the original 'anonymous' when, if fact, they're not. I realise mods can tell to a degree via I.P address, but to anyone else, it's impossible to tell if subsequent 'anonymous' is the same as original 'anonymous'. Not that it matters that much, as the NSA/GCHQ war machine can tell.

Oh, you can read it here if ya like. :) Oh, no my user name was not in reference to anything Morrissey or Smiths related. It isn't even a homage to the Gen X film, Reality Bites, like so many have suggested. It is just my outlook on life. Reality bites. It sucks sometimes. It hurts. But you have to pay attention to it. 'Cause it is biting you in the butt. Pinching you, forcing you to pay attention. Yet, so many of us try to escape from it with drugs, sleep, food, religion. I get the desire to do that. But I am an existentialist. And I think it is best to face reality head on. Stand at the edge of the cliff and look it straight in the eye. And decide, can I accept life as it is? Is it worth living? Then hopefully decide yes, it is. And then turn around and go about living. And perhaps revisit that cliff, again, and again. So no, not about Moz. But... I do think Morrissey's lyrics touch on these themes. Sorry. Over-long explanation.

We'd find out it was one person living in Minnesota in his mom's basement. Cliche, yes. But possibly true.

I'm sure a moderator would be happy to tell you that multiple people are making the posts you find objectionable, if you had the nerve to ask directly.

Cool I'll check out the blog as I've got F all to do tonight. Not that that's the only circumstances whereby one would read your blog :)

And the sock puppets always do.

This!

This might provide some information in the short term but it would likely lead to more manipulation and false information in regards to identity as IP's can be changed with the use of proxies.

Well, someone, Pet Troll, has been on the rampage. There must be twenty of thirty posts made by him in a dozen threads. Almost all targeting--you guessed it--me. His posts are getting approved quickly. He must be having a field day. Usually he has to wait for his troll posts to get posted. These ones are showing up in 'chat' time.

Were the posts as bad as these?

Have you finished Moz's book yet? Read any of it, you super duper fat fake fan, you?

Want to know what I think about you writing the titles to Sparks songs on your chubby hand before attending the gig? I'll tell you: You are a pathetic loser with the maturity level of a twelve year old girl.

I want to see your cellulite pocketed ass, actually.

You could not pay me enough to be your size. You are fat. And not f.i.t. You are disgusting--a real chub scout, without the scout part. Why do you think everyone is repulsed by your sex talk? Because you are the most unsexy person they have come across online. You are like a horny dog that humps pillows. You are vile. No one wanks to see your selfies.

You are a fat, ugly, pathetic excuse for a human being. You are also a hypocrite and a lying sack of shit. I threw out the olive branch. Even others noticed. And what do you do? Tell me I am a clavicle ridden, Charlie Rose with a dry vagina. Nice. You make me sick. Your sister is probably as stupid as you. No wonder you get along. And don't tell me about family pathology. Where were your mom and dad when you were 14 getting raped by a 45 year old man? My dad would have killed Evan. So would have my mom. Your parents failed you. No wonder you are one f***ed up individual.

You're not clever, just fat.

You are a hypersexual woman with no outlet. You want a cock in your mouth but have to settle for a Twinkie instead. Ever consider a male escort? No shame in that. Just use protection. There must be plenty of rent boys out there in LA.

You are in denial if you think fat is good for you, or society. Curves are one thing. You have rolls. You have no shape, thus you are forced to wear mom jeans, sweatpants, and over-sized t-shirts. If you lost weight your boobies would shrink. You said if you had the money you would have a reduction. Boobs are fat. Go on a diet, girl! Shrink those puppies the all-natural way. Then get the excess skin trimmed later. Carrying those boulders around can't be doing your back any favors. And that rub-rash between your legs you get after walking around all day... no wonder you had to sit down and take a post-on-Solo break, when you were at the fattest place on earth. Fat is not fun.

Being fat is NOT a good thing. It is unhealthy and unattractive.

PS - BIG is a synonym for FAT, dumb(fat)ass

Obviously. Lots of them! And full FAT ones to boot! I bet you can down a bag of Oreo cookies in one siting. Had a neighbor do this twice--right in front of me. She was on autopilot. One cookie after another. Crumbs falling on her shirt. Teeth black as night. Was disgusting. She weighed 240 pounds at the time. Had her stomach stapled not long after that. Not sure how successful it was as I moved out of town and lost contact with her. I think not at all. She was an emotional eater like you. Wasn't having sex, had no boyfriend, lonely childhood. Stuffing her face in an effort to push down all those painful emotions and to cope with the stress. She was just going to return to her old ways. Sad.

Have you contacted a dietician yet? Given OA a call?

Don't sweat it. You and I would never be friends, and it is not because you are not attractive. I have tried to have fat and ugly female friends. And you know what they did the whole time we were together? Complain that they wish they were thin and pretty. Shaming themselves and making me feel guilty for being who I am. It is not fun. Like attracts like for a reason.

Not all unattractive women become fatties, of course. But many do. And it is because they use food to fill that empty void that might otherwise be filled with a meaningful relationship with boyfriend/girlfriend.

And that is why I offer you diet tips. Because you can't see how fat you are. We all see it. That is why people comment on your looks. To point it out. If you want a lover/partner, you are going down the wrong path. Lose some weight, and you just might get laid.

Truth is, you are not an introvert. You are the epitome of an extrovert. It's written all over your face. For some reason you like the introvert label better. Probably because almost all intellectuals are introverts. You are neither. If the shoe doesn't fit, you really should try to stuff your fat foot into it.

They voiced their hate, in this thread in particular, probably because they are most likely unattractive and fat and my comments rubbed them the wrong way. They took them personally, obviously.

Brummie hates you. Brummie knows you bait me. He knows when I get pushed too far I can and will have a meltdown. That is usually when I start calling you fat. Even he is calling you fat now. And soon more will follow suit, if you continue to post pics that clearly show you are morbidly obese. Why is calling you fat, not in violation of any standards of decency? Because you can lose wait. It is a choice. You are choosing to over-consume. To take in more than you share, which makes you, by all accounts, a greedy fat pig. Oink, oink.

Rush Limbaugh is a fat f***er and would make an easy target. Where is my crossbow?

By the way: not one of these comments was made in The Pigsty.
