What's the saddest song you've ever heard in your life?

  • Thread starter Justin Playfair
  • Start date
kurt cobain (and his sweaters) - do re mi (alt. title would have been me and my iv p.s dont rape me)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZXPN4g1pew

recorded in a closet at home two weeks i believe before he died/committed suicide

the words:

"If I may, if I might, lay me down weeping
If I say, what is like I might be dreaming
If I may, what is right so many time, see me heal

Those years in his vomit
A phrase from his pocket
And chains holding the wind, I won't be

Dream
Do re mi, do re mi
Do re mi

If I may, If I'm right wake me up, see me
If I do, If I like find me how to see me
If I may cold as ice, I may, how to see me

Raised in his socket
It fades from his moment
A chase from his socket I will need

Ray dream
Do re mi, do re mi
Do re mi, do re mi
Do re mi

Wish me good, wish me light, break me down, see me
In your way just be quiet, follow pain and bleed me
Yell or wail and if I sigh sink me how, TV
If I may, if I might gonna go to bleed

Praise in his pocket
Praise from his moment
A chase from his own in my tea

Ray dream
Rape me, don't rape me
Do re mi, do re mi
Don't rape me, do re mi"

sublime - pool shark (home recording)

he lost not long after

the words:

"lying in my plastic bed thinking how things were so cool to me
my baby likes to shoot pool
i like lying naked in my bedroom tonight
it used to be so cool
now ive got the needle and i can shake but i cant breathe
i take it away but iwant more and more
one day im gonna loose the war"

A song by the Manic Street Preachers called, I'm Not Working.

Look it up yourselves..:)

I recently lost the love of my life. I've known a lot of depressing songs, but these remind me of the fact the most, so some of the saddest songs I've ever heard are:

Tearjerker by KoRn
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQxg5SX0UeI

And All That Could Have Been by Nine Inch Nails
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AipYaev9DVI

Also by Nine Inch Nails:Hurt (Which Johnny Cash made a great cover of as well), Something I can never have, and

The Great Below
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ei6cmxqDPmk

Esmeralda, Black Flies and To Be Alone by Ben Howard

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2d6JECm_Q94
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sD8QsNh61QM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cW1E1ig19cs

9 Crimes by Damien Rice
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgqOSCgc8xc

The timeless classics:

Mad World by Gary Jules
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4N3N1MlvVc4
Suzanne by Leonard Cohen
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUXC_dhQHzY
Vincent by Don McClean
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxHnRfhDmrk

Omnia's rendition of The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUL4WUOcW2w

And last, but definitely not least

Kettering by The Antlers
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijf8MN0-nEI

I listed a whole playlist, but these songs keep me sane, maybe they'll help someone else out there too. There are many more, too many to mention. I hope this post doesn't get kicked because of all the links.

King Crimson - Epitaph

Suzanne - Leonard Cohen

Jesus, Epitaph, yes. In fact this is a very sad thread. That's the point right? After listening to many of the songs on this thread, excuse me while I play Raw Power....very loud:)

Maybe not in my life, but this song makes me sad. Razing fertile land for useless shit. The land is still underneath though, waiting for us to figure out we don't need the strip malls. Bed Bath and Beyond will not make us happy, only being held and understood.

(This is a rocker I work to often.)

When I can work out how it was
Then I'll tell you
TV stained my memories, yeah
I don't think it shows
Remember through sounds
Remember through smells
Remember through colors
Remember through towns
With fear and fascination
On what was here
And what's replacing them now
Interchange causes a mall
And crowded chain restaurants
More housing developments go up
Named after the things they replace
So welcome to Minnow Brook
And welcome to Shady Space
And it all seems a little abrupt
No, I don't like this change of pace

This got stuck in my head today for some reason. THey say it was because he sucked on his brushes on had lead-poisoning dimentia, I say he was a half a hermetic androgyne in a time with suppressed communication and he got lost in the grays and cut off his "oreille" which in the language of birds is ORIOLE that he was tired of reading. He was DONE with the birds and their insistence to be heard, by birds I mean angels. They can be rather persistent. Ask Morrissey.
