"Unhappy Birthday"by The Smiths

Musically this is my favorite song on "Strangeways,..." However, I very rarely listen to it because I find it too depressing. Morrissey sings about killing his dog and then shooting himself. It's just personally too depressing for me. That's just my opinion. I really do think the song is absolutely beautiful musically but I only listen to it once in every 2 or 3 years.

"Sad Lisa"by Cat Stevens

Truly heartbreaking.

Jolene. Dolly Parton.

The Smiths - I Won't Share You - Lyrically and musically this always tugs at my heartstrings.
The Smiths - Suffer Little Children - Don't think this one needs explaining.
Morrissey - Seasick, Yet Still Docked - This one makes me cry, everything about it.

this was played at my nan's funeral, listen to the lyrics and you will see why it is so sad.
It was written about a friend who died of cancer when young.
It fitted my nan's personality and life so well.

Seasick, Yet Still Docked. That song kills me, I can relate to it and the tune itself is so melancholy and beautiful.

I Know It's Over. "I know it's over, and it never really began, but in my heart it was so real"

You don't need any lyrics. This song is heart breaking. Although it can be interpreted in many ways

"I never chose to be this way, to be alone

There never was another choice, there never was

As the rain pours down, washes out my thoughts of you..."
