So...I'm pretty obsessed with The National.

I used to think they were boring and pretentious, then I heard Bloodbuzz Ohio which was really upbeat and catchy and I listened to that all the time but didn't much like their other stuff because it was too slow, then I started to like some of their other fast songs, then I started to like their slow songs...now I'm basically not listening to anything but The National.

Great moody literate indie pop. So, if there are any other fans here, I'll be putting up some bootlegs and rarities and stuff. I've accumulated quite a bit.

Here's the excellent song Rylan from a live performance on Q...it's a song that didn't make Trouble Will Find Me. I edited out the audience parts so it sounds like a studio cut.

A certain someone turned me on to The National. :p

Love them. Matt's soulful baritone voice suits the moody lyrics perfectly. And he sounds like he's from Ohio--my home state. Which is brownie points in my book. I bet they adore him there. Love that he's 42--a perfect age. Still young enough to be sexy and hip. Yet old enough to have some experience and wisdom under his belt.

Ryan is a great song. Thanks for sharing it.

Did you see this? The National on World Cafe

The National singing Graceless on The Colbert Report May 22, 2013...

Thanks for that edit of Rylan.

Trouble will find me is a grower - the 1st track is more miss than hit for me, but the rest is really really top work...

& Bona Drag is namechecked in "Pink Rabbits"

"And everybody was gone
You were standing in the street cause you were trying not to crack up
And Bona Drag is still on
Now I only think about Los Angeles when the sun kicks out
Now I only think about Los Angeles when the sun kicks out"

"Nevermind" and "Let it be" are too in the glorious "Don't swallow the cap"

A request : anyone got the Tarquin Rough demos that were available a couple of years ago (I've found a bunch of tracks on youtube, but not the whole package - and it's a forbidden topic on The National board...) ?
...Willing to share ? ;-) Thanks

Here's something to enjoy w/ thanks to the original compiler / uploader :
==> a compilation of the various radio sessions & tv performances from April and May.
The files are all mp3, most of which are recorded using Audacity and then edited in Cool Edit.
Here are the details, with the download link .

Thanks again Skylarker, I must have (some of ?) them already spread here & there but not in that handy "era" package.

I'm sure you're already on it, but again just in case, from the forum (w/ thanks to judgesmails, the original uploader) :

Late Night With Jimmy Fallon (“Sea of Love” and “I Need My Girl”) on April 25, 2013
Sea of Love: http://www.sendspace.com/file/sujgeg
I Need My Girl: http://www.sendspace.com/file/zdo3ec

And a few other rarities that might be of interest :

Magdelin (4 track demo of “Patterns of Fairytales”, from the “Bed Recordings”): http://www.sendspace.com/file/w95ork
Son (live in New York City, December 12 2011): http://www.sendspace.com/file/x3yn03

...and I'm off (to a secret meeting in the basement of my brain)

Thanks; I got the older stuff from that site you linked but I needed the Fallon stuff. I tried to rip it myself but the clips had already been disabled.

I'm tagging everything as the playlist "Rare Tracks" in iTunes but they're all sequentially numbered with album-era tags in the description box. So they should all glue together fairly seamlessly.
