Pic (of) the Brid(g)e Down the Alley...

I'll get me coat.

Seriously though, it's pretty cool/romantic to have such a looming structure (structures? those are two different bridges) be your neighbor.

:p

Yeah, two different bridges right next to each other. Brooklyn Bridge in the first photo, Manhattan Bridge in the second photo. I used to live in that building directly under the Manhattan Bridge. It was indeed amazing (and sort of surreal) to walk out the front door to that every morning! It has been pointed out to me that I am extremely romantic when it comes to stone and steel, especially when there's a river nearby. Bonus points for cobblestone streets.

Thought of Ben Affleck getting off the freeway today.

Last night, just as the protests were getting underway in midtown after a grand jury failed to indict the cop who killed Eric Garner. I was on the east side of 6th Ave (Rockefeller Center), and the protest march was moving down the west side of the street. Barricades everywhere—it was totally impossible for the marchers to make their way to the tree lighting, unfortunately. I had to walk about 10 blocks north before I was even able to cross the street to join the protest. If E-W pedestrian traffic across 6th had not been totally blocked, I'm sure the number of marchers would have grown even more rapidly. The city sure did manage to protect the tree…

Listening to tourists whine about how they weren't able to access the plaza for the tree lighting because of the "rioters" (there were no riots) was infuriating. This is everyone's business.

I caught myself using rioter and switched it to protester. Wow I had no idea you were so close to it all. Good for you joining in.

Azusa Panda Express has an amazing view of the San Gabby Mountains.

Second night of protests—sadly I wasn't able to make it out tonight. I am so proud of every one of the tens of thousands of people in cities all across this country who are marching. If not now, when?

Meanwhile in the backseat of my car...

Sometimes I'll look back and he's sitting there like a tiny little man. Just sitting there looking out the window.

Saturday, first morning in the new apartment. No gas for cooking, no wifi, leaking radiator, missing refrigerator door parts, broken mailbox key, not enough heat to raise the temperature above 65—but damn, it's beautiful. Pass me a couple of dogs and another sweater…
