Dumbest statement of the week:“It’s a hard, sad fact that people kill themselves. That they genuinely see no place for themselves in the world, or the world they inhabit is just too damn hard. What is harder is to accept that it is their right to seek help or not.”
I tend to see suicidal folks as not being of sound mind. And it is our duty to intervene--much in the same way we would intervene to protect a child from harm. When depressed, one is not exactly thinking clearly and thus is incapable of making the best decisions. It is our duty to help whether they resist or not. Most unsuccessful suicides go on to be grateful that they failed at ending their lives. That is enough to convince me that we NEED to stop them and help them get better.
"when a man carries a gun, the respect he thinks hes getting might really be fear. so i dont carry a gun because i dont want the people of mayberry to fear a gun. i would rather they respect me"
Overheard standing in line at Stein Mart. Proof Hillbilly Dialect is alive and well. This woman could be a Chaucer scholar for all I know so I can't judge, but I can't help but smile a little bit when I hear it.
He hangs around a lot. He keeps saying Courtney Love murdered him but I got world peace to work on, I can't solve that cold case right now. He's a pretty loyal ghost, he's like a kid.
