I hope there are precautions in place to prevent trolling. It seems like a whole new playground has been opened up and while I'm sure it's impossible to moderate the editing of info, steps should be taken to at least keep an eye on it.

Edits are traceable, as far as I know. Offenders would theoretically be banned from entering further information.

Additionally, at this stage anyway, there are multiple people still working to update the initial information. If some dumbass comes along and changes Morrissey's band member info to include, say, the Marx brothers, then that edit is going to be seen quickly and fixed.

The software tracks all edits. At this point, they're all reviewed and "rolled back" if needed. The software makes it pretty easy to just remove the offending edits without changing anything useful that may have been added by others. For users of the anonymous account, the IP of the change is logged and can be banned if needed. This info isn't available by default to editors and any searching of the database by them is logged. -MR

An obvious mistake in the initial creation of the page and copying templates over. Thanks for pointing it out.

Any help with correcting the data copied from templates would be greatly appreciated. It's particularly prevalent in the templates for songs and tour lineups. -MR

A wiki should have been a feature of this site for many years now. It is a feature of many fansites.

Can you name some of these 'many fansites' with this feature? All of the artist/band wikis I've seen are standalone and are not integrated.

Of course we do. There are many wonderful places out there where folks catalogue the amazing things done by Morrissey and The Smiths. I think the wiki can be a complement to them. A place where folks that don't feel like running a site can, none the less, share their knowledge. I think what the wiki becomes is up to us, the fans. If we use it, add to it and share it can become a really useful thing for all of us. Or we can sit back, nit pick the errors and wait for someone else to do something to fix it. I choose trying to fix it. -MR

Well said. The internet is big enough for all Morrissey sites to co-exist and complement each other.

I can tell if a new feature or redesign will be successful when the trolls come out during the announcement saying that it won't be, it's like clockwork. Since any user has the power to edit / shape the wiki, it's a good test to see who actually wants to fix something and who prefers to complain about how things are.

You're doubling-down yet again in your quest to have influence with/over him, and getting deeper into the Morrissey business, even though he's loudly told you to remove yourself from his coat tails. Do you really think he still might hire you--even it's just to force you to stop embarrassing him by association?

When they realize the lay of the land and speak up about the problems they'll inevitably encounter, you'll allow your pet trolls of the moment to harass them at length, no holds barred. The contributors will recall that the site's TOS forbade harassment, perhaps complain--then be punished for complaining. Astonished and saddened, they'll depart. New users, as unaware of the pattern as the old ones were, will replace them, then wise up, then criticize, then be attacked, then be replaced... And on and on it goes...

Lamentable ? In what way ? I'd always understood that this wasn't a website for Morrissey but, rather ,for Morrissey fans. It seems unlikely the discography , tour histories, etc. of the Wiki will feature the same volume of caustic banter found elsewhere here ....

Although I welcome the contributions, it seems a bit hypocritical for goinghome to make that statement and yet continue to visit / post on the site.
