    Default Your projects...

Anyone doing any personal projects or whatever at the moment? Whether it be a nice chuffing oil painting, some exquisite wood carving, creating your own D.I.Y furniture/clothes/jewellery etc or some smoking hot illegal grafitti? Is there anything you've been getting into and see finishing off in the near future? If anyone tells me they're constructing their perfect gimp costume you can take a hike, only after extensive pictures and detailed blueprints for us folk to pore over...

Anywho, I've just stripped a nice little 3/4 acoustic (£7.50 at a charity shop!) and made it more personal and fitted new strings, didn't take me ages but love doing little projects like this!

Excellent. I'm just about to embark on something I've wanted to do for a long time. I have the house to myself, got some new guitar strings, firing up Audacity (OK, I'm simple), and I'm going to try to do a version of Jeff Buckley's Dream Brother. It may well be shite, but at least I'll have tried.

Hey, if there are any aspiring writers out there (which are like projects that are impossible to take a picture of unless you're a wizard ) McSweeney's announced it's Column Contest today.

I just did this little project which is kinda fun. For some weird reason pretty much all of my friends are school teachers and ask me to help them decorate their classrooms. My friend Jonathan teaches at a Catholic School and asked me to help him update a sign in his classroom, he's moving from 3rd to 6th grade this year. The Arch Diocese of Los Angeles mandates that this slogan be prominent in every classroom. I ditched the dots in between the word FAITH and used color to emphasize that it's an acronym. I also got rid of the TRUST THE LORD border and went with the complimentary color on the color wheel to the title. Then there's five little signs not pictured that correspond to the acronym placed at five different places around the classroom in the same style and using the same colors, there's a corner for "Aware Citizen" where world events are emphasized, "Honor Life" will encourage vegetarianism and exercise, etc.. Yay $60,000 graphic design school debt put to USE!

I knocked this one out in 40 minutes using scrapes of an old sign, shitty construction paper, a broken glue stick and a dull pair of scissors. I'm like the flippin' McGyver of signs. It's the size of my kitchen!

I repainted a birdhouse this weekend. The old one was Southwestern colors from years ago. They repainted their house earth tones so I used their house paint to freshen up the structure and put some birds on it. Now I gotta go clean the kitchen something fierce.
