Did anyone else go to the aftershow party at a club called South?

There was a really good atmosphere in there and lots of friendly fans chatting about the concert.

Rounded off a great night!!

It was a good night.
The people moaning about the "crap" set list aren't true Morrissey fans, they're just stuck in 1984. If you didn't like it, there were plenty of exits at the M.E.N, use them in future, make more space for the people who appreciate him :)

Just take a look at Uuija Board on U-tube absolute garbage version that is and a guest guitarist Hilary Devey from Dragons Den as well. That really is awful you've gotta admit that

Not as garbage as your spelling.
What a f***ing cretin.

So far it has been just 1 time somewhere in the far east (Singapore ? ) that he sung 2 songs for an encore.

He sang two song encores several times on the 2012 Japan tour. In Singapore he left with NO encore because of the poor response of the audience.

I don't buy the stuff written about Manchester. Everyone I know who went loved it, as did I. I think it divides the men from the boys, because he didn't do a best of set. A set for the fans, and this fan absolutely loved it.

For those who do not like the animal slaughter footage and do not like being preached at about the Royals and the Olympics bear in mind the saying:

'I may not agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it'

Really didn't know what to expect from this concert. Having seen our man in Stoke Victoria Hall, and the Palladium last year, I was wondering how seeing him in an arena again would compare (especially the Palladium, which was my very favourite show to date). I must say, I was very pleasantly surprised. Was stuck in seating quite far back, but the atmosphere where I was was brilliant. The sound wasn’t the best I’d heard, but certainly not bad. It might just be me, but Moz’s voice seems to get stronger every time I see him. And as for the band, they’ve always impressed me, but they seemed to be much tighter than ever, nailing a lot of the subtleties of the set – for example I noticed that Jesse is now playing the proper solo for Fatty, whereas before it used to be a bit of a meshed mess. Whilst it wasn’t my dream setlist, I did think that it was very good. You Have Killed Me makes for a fantastic opener, and Still Ill was the perfect way to end. So pleased to have heard a few songs live for the first time too, such as Last Night I Dreamt, Far Off Places and Still Ill, all of which were spot on. Great to see People Are The Same back on the bill, it’s rapidly become one of my favourite Morrissey songs. In no way groundbreaking, but a force to be reckoned with. Would be hard to pick a favourite song, but I always go gaga for Speedway. And Please, Please, Please was a special moment - I don’t think there would be anyone who was there who would disagree. Half way through I Know It’s Over I was overcome with awe and had to just sit back and quietly watch. Mesmerising. Seeing Morrissey really is how I can imagine one has a religious experience. Not the very best Moz gig I’ve seen, but certainly up there, and seeing him in Manchester was important for me. It again validated how much of an important artist he still is. Until the next time, Viva Moz.

Does anyone who was there on Saturday night know what the first song was on the screen after Kristeen Young had finished and left the stage?

It looked very 60's and was a band with a female singer, looked like they were walking through a park and the lady in question
had a fur neck coat on!

Can't remember many other details but really like the song.

Any ideas? Please!

Morrissey was amazing, but I was extremely upset by the "Meat is Murder" set and no I'm not being ignorant, I've been vegetarian since I was 12 and I am aware that that kind of thing happens but it was completely out of order to play it. I don't think it is how he should treat his fans, if people wanna eat meat then thats upto them and he should be grateful for having them not treating us like we are murderers. I felt like it totally killed the atmosphere and for the rest of the gig I felt fed up, really not cool Morrissey! Don't preach, seriously not a good way to treat your fans.

I'm not saying you're wrong but for me, personally, it's a refreshing thing to see. As someone who is very passionate about animal rights etc., I've always felt that pop music in paticular has always lacked a strong message. So for me, seeing possibly one of the most influential pop stars do something like this and to hear him having such strong views, regardless of if I agree or not, is refreshing and in my eyes, what music should do sometimes but doesn't.

At the end of the day, I'm sure most people are capable of watching that footage and being mature and strong minded enough to make what they want to of it. It's not like you're being held at gun point being forced to throw some Chicken nuggets in the bin, the footage is there to show you that these things happen. Right or wrong, a lot of people know where a sausage comes from for example but don't think about it any further. I guess that's the whole point of showing the 'Meet Your Meat' footage, it's showing you where it comes from and giving you something to think about. If you walk away, shrug it off and go buy a Big Mac then great. That's your choice and at least you listened. If you go away, like I did from my first Morrissey concert and ask yourself questions about what you eat and why you've been ignoring these things for so long, then that's great too.

Basically, I don't see anything wrong with showing the footage. I'm a firm believer that if a person thinks something, and truely believes in it, then they should let it be known. I personally wouldn't sit and babble on at people about my passion for animals but that's different, I don't have a platform to do so like Morrissey does. Music should have a message to me and to see someone shout that message in such a strong and in your face way is refreshing to me. Like he's always said about himself, he's a real person with real views and I respect anyone who has real views who will stand up for them.

We drove a 500 mile round trip to see this gig and more than loved it. Morrissey was in excellent voice, the band were great and the set list comprised of an eclectic mix of both Smiths and old and new solo stuff...not far short of perfect. To all the naysayers slagging the set off erm..... I don't know quite how to break it to you but The Smiths broke up in 1987 and Morrissey has been a solo artist for quite some time...get it? Oh and as for the Meet your Meat footage, if you can't stand the heat get out of the proverbial. Those who require animals to be killed by their purchases DO NOT deserve to be sheltered from this or any other aspect of the production of the meat that they buy, Oh and those who think it's all a tad out of date, think again...haven't the workers at Harling farm JUST been convicted of animal cruelty at a Norfolk pig farm??? Of course it's far easier to pretend all this nastiness doesn't happen and chow down on your daily corpses...well give our regards to the dead animal and your colon. Plus of course everyone knows, or at least should know, Morrissey's stance on animal rights and meat eating to complain is akin to attending a Tory political conference and complaining it's all a bit right wing. Personally I think it was very much in keeping with the song..you know that Meat Is Murder one????
So again a wonderful night, well worth the drive...viva Morrissey can't wait to see you again. :)

It's a good job Morrissey isn't an abortion fanatic! It's a pornography of violence. He's just not talented enough to reinterpret his teenage protest, he still thinks it's 'radical'. It isn't. It's just silly confrontational bosh. And I haven't eaten meat since I was 10. I'm 51 now.

regards.

Sorry you found the meat is murder film footage upsetting.
But I think morrissey was RIGHT to show it, its part of morrissey and who he is and he kindly highlighted some of the absoulty terribly cruel ways in which animals are treated! :(
Its absoulty disgusting the way farm animals are treated, and i dont think people actually realise how these beatuifull beings rights to live a life free from suffering is violated. :(
In fact some of the treatment farm animals endure if you treated domesticated animal "pets" in the same way you would be arrested and prosecuted for cruelty! and rightly so!
For some insane reason farmers seem immune from prosecution when they cause absoulty terrible cruelty to farm animals!

Debeaking hens at birth casuing severe pain, keeping them in virtual darkness and in such cramped conditions that there poor legs snap and cripple and so are unable to stand and so ly in there own acid urine causing aginising burns and pain thru out there sad lives.
Forcing cows to be kept pregnant all there lives so that they produce un-natural amounts of milk causing weakness and unwellness in the cow, and routienly injecting anti biotics into them when they dont even have an infections, that is just pure ignorance and selfishness! , the list of unimaginable cruelty to farm animals is just sickning! It is!!!!!!!!!!! :(

And as for blood sports? I cant tell you how horrified I am about these bull runs in spain ect were they tease, torment, much to the happy cheers and laughter from the crowds, the beatutifull gental creatures, and then fianally slaughter the poor animals to death that leave the roads awash in the poor animals blood!
Absoulty sickning! :(

Thank you to morrissey for kindly hightlighting these animal rights issues!!!! :)

Well said! The Meat Is Murder footage is sad and I cannot watch it. It makes me cry like a baby. But it is reality and people need to be made aware of it. If people don't like it, they should stop eating meat and dairy!
