Manchester City fan anti-climax therapy thread (post traumatic stress Champions 2012)

Re: man united lose it for England

Oh, right. Let's just conveniently disregard the fact that Citeh starts 8-9 foreigners (or perhaps mercenaries is a more apt term) to United's mere 4-5. Oh, and of course, not to mention that your title was essentially bought by some Arab oil sheikh who came out of seemingly nowhere and spent gazillions in foreign oil money to buy the league title. So tell me. How's xenophobia working out for you these days? Something about throwing rocks in glass houses, I'd imagine.

Aaaahhhhh the old ''we bought the title'' bit again.

Oh course, de gaey, cleverley, jones, evra, rooney, young, nani, rio, vidic, carrick, anderson, the twins (whatever their name is), valencia, berbaflop all came through the famed youth academy, as did veron, ronaldo, van nistlehorse, etc etc etc etc etc before them.
But no, City bought the title....... so will stick to bashing them with that

what's xenophobic about what I said? I didn't say anything was wrong with coming from Ireland, Viking countries, Singapore or Malta. I merely pointed out the rags have a large fan base there. That's a fact, nowt xenophobic about it.

Finally, can I ask if you are from Manchester? I ask because if you do, your use of the term ''Citeh'' is used to mock how Mancunians pronounce the word. Therefore if you are a Manc, you are taking the piss out of yourself.

That was very bitter reading indeed. Every fan of any club would love to get a rich owner and old values would die pretty fast for the chance to win something. Football fans are the most fickle people in the world and would probably trade in their grandmother for some success. That does not make every football fan a gloryhunter but to long for success for the side you follow is only natural.

I see it at as City raising the bar for others and there was no doubt during the past season that United became better as they had a much better start to the season than normal and reached a points tally that normally wins you the championship. If we look at other leagues the competition is sometimes quite poor so it can only be good the league to have yet another powerful side to compete for the trophies.

I am always surprised that other fellow Man United fans aren't more pleased with all the things we as fans have seen our side win. I feel it is easy these days to take defeat cause of all the success we have had which is not a given especially knowing where we were if you look back. To complain when United have won the most championships is a bit too much for me and you must not forget that many clubs cannot even dream about seeing their side win a trophy at all.

Well, I dunno mate. It is not like I have something against you or City. For me there is no problem that the trophy stays in Manchester and the rivalry with the London clubs over the years have been more evil and dirty. I have met so many City fans over in Manchester over the years and they were all great people that I was glad to have met. In 1996 when you went down at home to Liverpool and we won the league up in Middlesbrough me and another norwegian Man United fan comforted this middle aged City fan saying to him they would get their day in future and this past season it happened.

I like banter between fans but I never bought into the supposed hate that some say exist between City and United fans cause my experience tells me it is light hearted and good humoured banter. Manchester people tend to pride themselves on being proud of their city and what has been achieved and is achieved there. I see it as a natural progression that the english football now has its power centre in Manchester and since I like the place and the people there a lot I can only see the benefits of that.

When it comes to City fans in Sweden you won't notice many of them. Those that have been about for years have been very loyal though and I think the word loyal has been part of the supporters club name here from the start. I only know one lad locally who supports City and he's from the middle east somewhere and I congratulated him on the league title just hours before the Manchester derby as I ran past him when out running. That is how certain I was that City would not only win the derby but also win the title.

I will never claim that City bought the title cause your success took longer to achieve than it did for Chelsea when Roman walked in. United used to be the club with the cash as well for many years and back then whenever a big player turned up United bought him. Buying players and getting the right manager is part of the sport as well and it's not just about playing football. Competition is great and it makes the sport better and the the Premier League have never been more popular in the world and that has to do with the excitement the league manages to create each season and the end of the past season can only be rivalled by the end of the 1994/1995 season when United also missed out which for me felt more cruel than it did when City won. Reason for that being that in 1995 United hadn't achieved anywhere near what we have now.

City won the league fair and square and every City fan deserved the success after having been through hell and back. I will now take a well deserved break from all talk about football so that the new season feels fresh and is something I have longed for. What is new for me during this upcoming season is that I will only be able to watch Man United games as I have cancelled my subscription like so many others as we the real fans did not like the production during the past season. I will be watching United online from laptop onto the big tv so that will be new.

Good luck for the upcoming season JJ.

Turbs, you can watch more than the Rags game on the computer as games kick off at different times over the weekend :thumb:

As for your ''non hatred'' of City...... it's easy for you not living / working / socialising with the opposite team's fans.
Hate is a very strong word. Dislike is more with my liking and having lived next to, worked alongside and drank in the same company as rags...... I say COME ON CITY...... THIS CITY IS OURS...... MCFC THE PRIDE OF MANCHESTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have this online service which means I will only be able to watch Man United games. During the past season I did not take time to watch many other games than United and have decided that just following United takes enough time cause I do have other things to do as well in my life.

I want you to look at this clip from the past season of swede Marcus Leifby travelling around to visit some clubs. In this episode he visits City and I think that Ian "Arnie" Arnfield explains the rivalry between City and United well and the fact that this City pub have a United fan with his own corner of the pub shows that it is not hate or even dislike but a genuine rivalry with a lot of banter. Leifby talks swedish of course but most of it is in english as you will hear.

Well, it is up to you. I just thought he explains a few things quite well and he is like a copy of an old friend of mine over there who used to be like some leader for the Man United fans that were based at The Trafford Pub. Have a great summer JJ.

Well, I don't. Just not worth the aggro over what is just a game in the end. It is my 44th birthday today and I thought it would be a good idea to say goodbye to Solo finally after all these years as I am too old to hang about here. I just feel too old to keep going on about things that do not lead anywhere.

Take care JJ and the rest.
