Default Strangeways sign no longer there

Following on from the new mosaic on the Afflecks Palace wall, as the lord giveth, the lord taketh away!

The sign opposite the Parkers Hotel that featured on the back cover of the Strangeways cover has been taken down.
The whole area (including the Rose & Crown pub next to the sign, is being bulldozed to make way for the 'Co-op quarter' as the Co-op bank build their new HQ.

Yes, the sign now removed isn't the original as on the cover (see below), but the replacement was still a spot on the 'Morrissey's Manchester' trail and fans posed in front of it, with the backdrop of the hotel behind it.

The hotel is still there and isn't affected by the development. Maybe the sign / new one will be put back up once the development is finished?

The original sign is long gone - by a fan or by a highways engineer who knows? But there has always been an equivelent sign on the corner of Munster St and Corporation St. As JJ has said, the whole area is being developed by the Coop, and Munster St is no longer- it now looks like the entrance to the future car park of the Coop. Looking at it, I doubt that the sign would be replaced in a similar spot, maybe further back down Corporation St?

    Morrissey: "I'm not in!"
    Jools: "Oh, come on."
Morrissey: "I refuse to open the door."

Still doesn't leave a good feeling that the area is made into a co-op building...
