Hi, My name is Fergus Dowd from Carlow in Ireland I just wanted to draw your attention to a sports/music online auction and charity cycle in aid of motor neurone disease.

I was just wondering if you could post the following for me it maybe of interest to Smiths fans.

One of the items donated is a retro Manchester City shirt signed by ex Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, we worked with Joe Moss of first third ltd in Stockport England.

The shirt is listed amongst over 50 other football/music donated items from clubs and Former player associations in Spain,England,Scotland,Holland and Wales.

Other bands who have supported our worthwhile cause are the Arctic Monkeys who signed a Shef Wed shirt(worked with their manager Geoff Baradale at Wildlife Enteratinment) also The Stone Roses signed a Man U shirt(worked with Conrad Murray of SJM Promotions) and the Scottish band The Proclaimers(worked with Kenny McDonald of Braw music mgmt) signed a Hibs shirt with fellow Hibbees Andy Murray Tennis player and Irvine Welsh author - also The Undertones signed a donated Derry City shirt for this worthwhile cause.

Please see attached link for donated items with detail and pics Marr signed City shirt is item #36- http://www.scottbellfund.com/?page_id=566

The reason for the fundraising is due to a friend Scott Bell being diagnosed with motor neurone disease at the tender age of 32.

Scott played football for Blyth Spartans AFC in the Conference North in England; The motor neurone diseases (MND) or motor neuron diseases are a group of neurological disorders that selectively affect motor neurones,[1] the cells that control voluntary muscle activity including speaking, walking, breathing, swallowing and general movement of the body.

A football ground themed cycle has been organised and will see a group of 21 cyclists from Ireland,England and Scotland over 4 days visit Windsor Park Belfast,Ibrox Stadium Glasgow, Celtic Park Glasgow and the Jimmy Johnstone Memorial Park in Viewpark(Mr Johnstone died from MND in 2006),Easter Road Edinburgh and Tynecastle Edinburgh,Stadium of Light Sunderland and St. James Park Newcastle in May.

Our target is to be in Croft Park home of Blyth Spartans by the 5th of May @ 2pm where there will be a charity match to raise funds for MND.

To note this cycle is self funded and has the support of Scott his family, the MNDA in the UK and Blyth Spartans AFC.

You can find out more about the fund & MNDA here on the following links:
