paul westerberg - baby learns to crawl
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZT7c-3jVHI

the words:

"baby learns to crawl
watching daddy's skin
learns to fall
get up again
baby learns to cry
watching mama's smile
in the mirror
can you hear her

baby learns to swear
with your hair
learns to love
watching tv
baby learns to cope with
what she sees
in the mirror
don't go near her (nearer?)

baby learns to hide
down on your knees
learns to pray when
somebody sneezes
baby don't you say you love me
in the mirror

one last crushing blow
a final crashing bore
and it's always time to go
as you're inching to the door
(let's go)

baby learns to live
watching daddy's life
baby learns to give
everything away
baby learns to cry
it's alright
in the mirror
baby learn to crawl
watching daddy's skin
baby learns to crawl
watching daddy's skin"

Rare TV Footage of Stephen Stills & Manassas, 1972
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuphMxyPWeA

from the youtube page:

"I might be wrong, but I think this was recorded for Beat-Club (not for the often misquoted MusikLaden, which replaced Beat-Club on December 13, 1972). The show was broadcast on March 25, 1972 (referred to as Episode #1.77). Any corrections are most welcome.

The broadcast seems to showcase Side A of the forthcoming double album release (April 12, 1972) almost in its entirety and track-by-track.

Manassas was a fairly short-lived project, but a highly creative one. The double album was in a sense a concept album of different genres from which the band could quite easily and most skilfully draw upon.

The core members of Manassas were:

Stephen Stills: vocals, keyboards & guitar (CSNY, ex-Buffalo Springfield)
Chris Hillman: vocals, mandolin & guitar (ex-Byrds, Flying Burrito Brothers)
Al Perkins: steel guitar & guitar (ex-Gram Parsons and Flying Burrito Brothers)
Calvin "Fuzzy" Samuels: bass, backing vocals (ex-CSNY and John Sebastian)
Paul Harris: keyboards (played with John Sebastian during 1968-71)
Dallas Taylor: drums (ex-Clear Light, CSNY and John Sebastian)
Joe Lala: percussion, backing vocals (ex-Blues Image and Pacific Gas & Electric)"

the words :

"And the morning comes with coffee in your chair
And the smell of cigarettes is in your hair
There's a sound that shouts outside the hotel room
And at night the bulbs of cameras flash at you

And if we don't have a future
If our lives split like shattered bits of glass
And if we don't have a future
Just leave your autograph
Your autograph

And at night the ball of neon lit our fate
And our shadows painted many different shapes
But the movies turn complex in front of you
There's just a smell of cigarettes left in the room

And we made fake conversation
And we peered through broken bits of glass
And it's all just complication
But too complex to ever last

And if we don't have a future
And if this is dissolved into the past
And if we don't have a future
Just leave your autograph
Your autograph
Just leave your autograph
Your autograph
Just leave your autograph
Your autograph"

I was in a band called “Go Time” years ago and people always thought we were named after the Movielife. Never heard that particular LP but I dig the rest of their stuff, especially “This Time Next Year”.

they were unconnected statements. what you posted made me think of the movielife or midtown or something along that vein. the tears was brett and bernard of suede solo side project that doesnt really remind me of the moveilife at all

saves the day - diseased
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2emMzZrc72I

this is saves the days last really good album. it combines the at youre funeral sound with the stuff from cant slow down imo and its really really good. i remember buying cant slow down at ocean city maryland at swirl world back when that town was awesome (still had punk rock prom dress etc) as it didnt have a sign just a door. such a cool place if you grew up in the cultural void that is marylands eastern shore. wed make a trip at the beginning of the summer and buy the official cd of the summer which had to be purchased there and only there. any road trips and thats what would get thrown on. made the mistake of buying the ataris e.p one year as that was totally kick ass but only like 14 min long. you made mention of the decemberists a while back when i posted rise to me and wondered if youd heard tarkio before. both of there albums are really good (he even does will never marry) but the second is like the long lost decemberists album thaqt wasnt which is a shame cause the songs there are so good. a couple from the decemberists debut are there. heres a couple if you wanna try it out. ones upbeat, weight of the world and the guitar will likely make you feel joy and the other is a gorgeous ode to tristan and isolde. he and his girlfriend are watching the film and he realizes that theyre relationship is mimicking the films story.
