Re: one of my dad's faves and an awesome album covers

played a lot of b Bauhaus recently by the way, saw that you like them too, right? :)

Yes, I do!

I probably should have included Billy Joel on my list of favorite artists/bands in the other thread. I've loved him since I was little kid and my older sisters were into him and spent a whole summer listening to The Stranger every day. Glass Houses is great, "All For Leyna" might be my all-time favorite BJ song.

Please, leave all overcoats, canes and top hats with the doorman.
From that moment you'll be out of place and underdressed.
I'm wrecking this evening already and loving every minute of it.
Ruining this banquet for the mildly inspiring and...

When you're in black slacks with accentuating, off-white, pinstripes
Whoa, everything goes according to plan.

I'm the new cancer, never looked better, you can't stand it.
Because you say so under your breath.
You're reading lips "When did he get all confident?"

Haven't you heard that I'm the new cancer?
Never looked better, and you can't stand it

Next is a trip to the, the ladies room in vain, and
I bet you just can't keep up with, (keep up) with these fashionistas, and
Tonight, tonight you are, you are a whispering campaign.
I bet to them your name is "Cheap", I bet to them you look like shh...

Talk to the mirror, oh, choke back tears.
And keep telling yourself that "I'm a diva!"
Oh and the smokes in that cigarette box on the table,
they just so happen to be laced with nitroglycerin.

I'm the new cancer, never looked better, you can't stand it.
Because you say so under your breath.
You're reading lips "When did he get all confident?"

Haven't you heard that I'm the new cancer?
Never looked better, and you can't stand it

Haven't you heard that I'm the new cancer?
I've never looked better, and you can't stand it

Haven't you heard that I'm the new cancer?
I've never looked better, and you can't stand it

And I know, and I know, it just doesn't feel like a night out with no one sizing you up.
I've never been so surreptitious, so of course you'll be distracted when I spike the punch.

And I know, and I know, it just doesn't feel like a night out with no one sizing you up.
I've never been so surreptitious, so of course you'll be distracted when I spike the punch.

And I know, and I know, it just doesn't feel like a night out with no one sizing you up.
I've never been so surreptitious, so of course you'll be distracted when I spike the punch."

some of these lyrics stick out at me a bunch. "And I know, and I know, it just doesn't feel like a night out with no one sizing you up.
I've never been so surreptitious, so of course you'll be distracted when I spike the punch." and "Talk to the mirror, oh, choke back tears.
And keep telling yourself that "I'm a diva!" " are line that really hit home for me.

ryan adams - lucky now

the words:

"I don't remember, were we wild and young
All that's faded into memory
I feel like somebody I don't know
Are we really who we used to be
Am I really who I was

The lights will draw you in
And the dark will bring you down
And the night will break your heart
Only if you're lucky now

Waiting outside while you find your keys
Like bags of trash in the blackening snow
City of neon and toes that freeze
We got nothing and nowhere to go
We got nothing and nowhere

The lights will draw you in
And the dark will take you down
And the night will break your heart
Only if you're lucky now

If the lights draw you in
And the dark can take you down
Then love can mend your heart
But only if you're lucky now

I don't remember, were we wild and young
All that's faded into memory
I feel like somebody I don't know
Are we really who we used to be
Am I really who I was"

im buying this album tonight. i got goose bumps

wanted to say nice about the combichrist. weird to see them getting attention like that. not really a fan or anything but i like different genres of music and appreciate/find them interesting even if just from afar. neat choice

Years of Refusal - Morrissey

I never really listened to this album much when it came out or since. It's not very listenable as a whole piece of work, unfortunately. CR

sublime - same in the end

frustration, rage, guilt, laughing at certain oblivion, feeling hopeless. makes me want to smash up the room and go insane in anger. those words are anything but stupid.

the words:

"Down in Mississippi where the sun beats down from the sky
They give it up and they give it up and they give it up
But they never ask why
Daddy was a rollin' rollin' stone
He rolled away one day and he never came home
It ain't hard to understand
This ain't Hitler's master plan
What it takes to be a man
In my mind, in my brain
I roll it over like a steamin' freight train
It ain't hard to ascertain
You only see what you want to believe
When you light up in the back with those tricks up your sleeve
That don't mean I can't hang
But the day that I die
Will be the day that I shut my mouth and put down my guitar
Sunday morning hold church down at the bar
Get down on your knees and start to pray
Pray my itchy rash will go away
Back up y'all it ain't me
Kentucky Fried Chicken is all I see
It's a hellified way to start your day
If I make you cry all night
Me and daddy gonna have a fist fight
It ain't personal, it ain't me
I only hear what you told me to be
I'm a backward-ass hillbilly
I'm Dick Butkiss
You know I lie
I get mean, I'm a thief in the dark
I'm a ragin' machine
I'm a triple rectified ass son of a bitch
Rec-tite(tm) on my ass and it makes me itch
I can see for miles and miles and miles
My broken heart makes me smile
In my mind, in my brain
I go back and go completely insane
It ain't personal, it ain't me
If I make you cry I might
Be your daddy at the end of the night
Take a load from my big gun
You only see what you want to believe
When you creep from the back
I got tricks up my sleeve
24/7 the devil's best friend
It makes no difference
It's all the same in the end"

This just arrived on my door step today and it sounds incredible. It's a red translucent vinyl of my favourite film score of all time!
