    i used to buy this quite a bit but the articles were boring and most of the things they said seemed pretty stupid. bah, who cares? they turned on Morrissey and then the public turned on them. good. i'm glad things are difficult for them.

    did they apologise in the end? maybe if they apologised, then their figures would go up a bit.

    It was obvious Conor McNicholas was going to sink the ship. I mean, come on.

    I found this quote, by the current editor, very interesting: "Young fans really love these covers," she says. "Our focus groups get really excited when it's the Smiths or John Lennon. You used to be really limited in what you could listen to, but now you have access to everything – young readers don't think chronologically about music."

    I wonder if that's true? It seems to be.

    Other than the fact that the death of the NME is yet another harbinger of the end of writing and the collapse of Western civilization into a state of utter barbarism, yes, it's probably a good thing.
