Mae
Grace
I have come into the posession of two lovely cats who were shelter bound which in California means certain death with a 85% mortality rate. They've been in my home almost a week and are very mellow and sleepy day and night. Their previous owner jsut had a baby and Grace was acting out by peeing on everything in defiance which prompted the shelter decision, I have not witnessed any naughtiness. It may because they feel more appreciated in our house whereas in the previous they were considered a nuisance, they use the litterbox, purr, sleep in a rotation in all the chairs in the house. I like to think of this phase as their retirement and am looking for a home where someone will appreciate them and give them a peaceful place to nap and be old.
Some facts:
They are 11 year-old sisters from the same litter who have never been seperated, their mother was named Biscuit, they were born in San Luis Obispo. They were indoor cats most of their lives but in the last 6 month at their previous home were allowed outdoors during a major house reconstruction. (Added stress which might explain their acting out.) They do well outdoors but prefer it inside. Grace is on a weekly dose of Prozac applied to her earlobe, a dot of gel. She used to chew the hair off her tail and the prozac worked, she;s been on it ever since. Mae hunts and kills birds, which is why I can't keep them I have made a commitment to care for two canaries who are currently locked in my sister's bathroom, otherwise I'd keep them. If I had a bigger house where the birds had more sunshine in their room...but as it is I can't. Since they are elderly they pretty much sleep all day. Grace is the freindlier cat but you can;t pick her up, she slashes. Mae is friendly on her terms. Both kind of keep to themselves but in the last few days they've been approaching us more for affection. Both LOVE being brushed and petted and talked to, something they haven't got a lot of in the last several years. THey use the litter box just fine and require the water to be refreshed three times a day or they get complainy. They've lived with dogs and another cat their whole life. They are spayed.
I will deliver these cats to anyone in a 500 mile radius of Los Angeles.
