Here is an interview to the chilean fashion designer Ricardo Oyarzun, in charge of designing Morrissey outfit for Viña del Mar Festival.

Chilean Fashion Designer Ricardo Oyarzún on Morrissey: He is handsome, fashionable, youthful and contemporary.

In an interview for ADN Radio Chile, the Chilean fashion designer Ricardo Oyarzún confessed to be very happy when he was requested to be in charge of designing the clothes for Morrissey’s presentation in Festival de Viña Del Mar. “The producers contacted me. I was very surprised because the truth is that he is a great international artist. So for me is a great satisfaction” he said

In spite of not being able to tell anything in advance about the designs, he commented: “He wants his clothes to be a little bit controversial, avant-garde and contemporary. For him, his clothes are a stage proposal and sometimes it has to do with the contents of the songs” Oyarzun expressed. He cares about the stage presence and he is very recreational about his clothing. For me, as a designer this is fantastic because it gives me the chance to play and be creative. The designer, who had the chance to meet the singer, said that: “I found him to be a very affable, modest person. Very different to the diva image that we all imagine. I had this image of a person that you are not allowed to even look at the face. He is a modest person: A tall, handsome, grey-haired 52 year old man. Her is also very fashionable, youthful and contemporary.

About the designs he created for the artist he said: he wears his clothes as a communication tool and he likes to be a little irreverent and controversial sometimes. It’s a very chic, fashionable irreverence, not a costume.

About the clothes designs he created for the band “Rafaga” he said: It has nothing to do with Morrissey’ style, that’s the fun part. It allows me to do a lot of different things and be versatile as a designer. In both cases, they were very pleased with the results.
