ok, well, here I go again, asking questions about a song...but, what does "jack the ripper" mean anyway???...what does the title of the song have to do with the lyrics???...anybody have any idea at all???...and again, I'll ask does anyone know to whom morrissey wrote "unhappy birthday"???...thanks ye veryily!!!...

Well, I can't really speak for Morrissey, but I'm guessing the title is slightly ironic -- but the narrator of the song is behaving more or less like a stalker, or psychotic, aren't they? So the title is a humourous indication of Morrissey's twisted way of looking at the world of romance. The song is ambiguously poised: are the narrator's feelings reciprocated? Or are they stalking the other person with the intention of doing them some harm? It's a psychotic love song, I think...
