Ok! I've been a Smiths fan for about 7 years (I am currently 17). Seriously now! I hate it when I'm talking to people and they ask who's some of my favorite bands & you know I start naming them....Phantom Planet, The Cure, Marvelous 3, MXPX, The Smiths & Morrissey...Then the whole world stops turning and the first thing the person asks me is "DUDE! ARE YOU GAY!!!!"??? (And for the record...I have a girlfriend and I'm very happy with her). WHY IS THIS ALWAYS IMPLIED!!! Can you be straight & like the Smiths? Is Morrissey gay?? I mean I never ever thought he was..but why is there is 'sterotype'???

Re: please please f*** f*** away you lame brained f***face

If you have to ask that question you obviously have a problem...

Hey f***nut, nobody cares but apparently you care enough to ask such a question. You're a bad name for straights or homosexuals.

Goddamn imbeciles!

Stand up and be proud to be a fan of GOOD music! -of Smiths/Morrissey music!
It is a matter of music not sexual orientation!

So....No one has answered yet...The only thing thats happened so far is me being called a f***nut & insecure for wanting to know if its true or not..... I always stand up for GOOD music by the way.

Ok here we go.....

Morrissey has said in the past that he doesn't believe in definitions, that people aren't hetero- or homo-, they are just SEXUAL. He has also admitted to being bisexual. He was celebate for many years and then allegedly had a couple of relationships with guys.

I don't know WHY Moz/The Smiths are linked with being gay, their music wasn't even about that. I think it's because they were all non-macho and unafraid to be feminine.

I hope you weren't asking because you have a problem with it. If you do, please allow me to be the first person to tell you to go f*** yourself.

Goodnight and thank you.

Thanx Girl Drowning. No thanx to your little signature @ the end. I have no problem with gay people, I just don't like it when people try to convert me. But was that sooooo hard & painful for you explain that? Why didn't someone just do it in the first place without getting all up in the face about it. Lets face it! Some of you people are 30! Some are mid-20's, some of you will never see 30 again. Most of you are more f***ing immature than me. I'm 17, if anyone should be immature it should be me. Christ! Whenever I have a question or something, I have to get called a bunch of names & threated. I thought we all like Morrissey & Smiths? So why do fans all hate each other or are sooo hostile! Some of you need to seriously GROW THE f*** UP! I cannot say it enough! Everyone should be talking about how excited that Morrissey is coming back & possibly signing with Sancutary & touring. Instead you're all f***ing screaming @ each other. Pathetic.

I agree mate. I always try to answer people's request for information. You have to realise some people are oversensitive after years of cynacism and abuse. Anyway, hope that helped.

PS Ignore Greasetea totally, his mother f***ed her dad and that's what happened.

Morrissey is not gay. Football is gay. All those muscular mens huddling and hugging in tights with their betweens potruding. You know when that quarterback guy puts his hand down to the other guy's behind? Yeah.. that's gay! All the butt slapping and the body contact! Now that's gay!

Wide to receive baby.....

Re: Iam BECOMING YOU ARE JUST AN ANT

well matthew i find it hard to believe that you became a moz fan when you were ten years old, if it really is true then i feel extremely sorry for you... i didnt like Girl Drownings answer to your reply...wasnt good enough. most people call moz gay because well it is gay. i had a hard time with this when i was going through puberty (declared to the world or people who wear band shirts a moz fan @ 15). but now that iam older and wiser i can honestly say that wearing a moz shirt is gay ...but it doesnt mean you have to be gay. my advice to you is forget about moz and his gayness. morrissey is just a guy who gives silly interviews, he is an artist who writes badass music and looks cool crooning to it along with the band RIP{Spence}. people who call moz and his fans gay dont know about or even got into any of morrissey's songgs. they just wanna inform everyone about their homophobia and how that makes them 100% straight. the point is these people just wanna give you a hard time because well frankly you are supplying them the ammunition.

yup oh and another thing avoid hanging out at strip malls, being a moz fan aint cool when you are wearing his shirts in a dairy queen employing hindus. find a wearhouse or loiter in front of some old vintage looking establishment

Yes, Morrissey is gay, was gay, will ever be gay.

If someone said something like that to me at work they would be fired...

Oh no no no! I beg to differ!

1st off Mike Joyce was very Macho!

The early Smiths songs were loaded with Homo-Erotic lyrics.

for example.
"Handsome Devil"
a tale of an exchange of sexual favors for help on academic stuides between school boys

A BOY in the bush is worth two in the hand
I think I can help you get through you exams
And when we're in your scholarly room who will SWALLOW whom?

"This Charming Man"
is a tale of a young man soon be be wed, who is stuck on the side of the road
and is offered a lift by a gay man, who offers him a homosexual expreience and convinces the young man not to be married.

I have also included a scan of the 45 jacket,
this was the 1st smith 45 I ever bought
the cover said to me, "THIS IS FOR YOU"

http://thesubdomain.50megs.com/handinglove.jpg
This cover was a beacon for every young gay boy
to come to the smiths, you will be safe here,
you will be loved here, you will be respected here.

"William it was Really Nothing"
explorng the issue of those who are uncertain about their sexuality
who can often rush into marriage, to prove to themselves that they are straight
even though they are not.

"Reel around the fountain"
Exploring the issue of gay molestation trauma,
how it does not have to ruin your life
so you can accept and enjoy gay sexual relations in adult hood

and so many more song were all directly related gay themes
that were being addressed
for the first time, as far as I knew back in 83

As for people who are often accused of being gay for liking the Smith or Morrissey.

1.) Why should you care what others think
2.) you are most likely young, and as you reach adulthood and deal with adults

you will never hear such a comment
3.) if you are an adult and hear such comments from other adults, you are most

likely, in a poor or ethinic social group that lends itself to homophobia
4.) In any case, educate yourself, and find a respectible position in society

and with your sucees in life you will find people will accept you for who

you are and not what you listen to.

Does this guy ever make a point?
or just jibberish all the time?

When I said their music wasn't even about that, I meant they weren't a 'look we're gay' group like Pansy Division. I meant there was no big issue, their music was about people, society etc etc. I agree with your interpretation of those songs actually. And BTW I met Mike Joyce a few months ago, not the most feminine of guys but macho, not really!

I have tried to be objective and not give a personal view so far, just to quote the man himself. However, for the record, I think he regards himself as bisexual, and that he certainly doesn't close himself off to the idea of being with a woman, but that he mostly is attracted to guys. There are lots of quotes that back this up, about certain men, and several strong rumours about relationships with men. Also, there are quotes about women, that he doesn't understand them and has never felt truly close to a woman in that sense etc. If further proof is needed, just watch one of the live vids (eg Will Never Marry). When a woman hugs him he almost freezes, and sometimes he positively GRIMACES.

To spare the doubters and homophobes, I'm a woman, some people class me as bi-curious, some bisexual. I don't know or care, I just know that I usually am attracted to men but occasionally I meet a woman I'm attracted to. Whatever. I think this is probably how Moz feels.

Finally, I find your handle really offensive, and it's inaccurate anyway. Please consider changing it.
