Kristeen Young is truly dire, dire garbage of an artist. She and Tony V. were/are a romantic item, no? As if that doesn't explain things...but main point: Ringleaders was just such a more stylish, interesting record overall than YOR and I'd love to see Moz record his next with Visconti - perhaps some expert shaping on his part can flesh out some of the thin songwriting!
Just because you're banging your producer, doesn't mean he doesn't respect you for your artistic talent.
it's remained surprising to me that morrissey is a ky fan. he's always struck me as having a true affinity for the endeavors of authentically strong, independent women, whereas those qualities seem more like an affectation in kristeen young's work. her heavy dependence on tony visconti translates into a disingenuousness at odds with how she portrays herself.

Pretty and purt yes probably, arty even. Believe me Ive TRIED! to like her music but its like eating a lemon and a bitter one at that. I adore female singers and really root for them, current singers like Tori Amos,P.J Harvey, or older singers with character like Nina Simone,Ella fitzgerald, K.D, Kirstey macoll, Loved Morrissey bringing Mary coughlen to my attention fantastic love that whole female rising from the ashes like a pheonix.

I would never say she was a pop artist and could not imagine in what circumstances in life you could possibly listen to her music.
Perhaps 20 somethings may, I dont know. When my son plays her music. It just has the effect on me of wanting to smash something hard. it irritates the hell out of me.

For the record morrissey DOES like KY and it has nowt to do with Tony. Moz may well like her sexually but he is also a fan of her music, which is why he watches most of her shows- something he doesn't do with Doll and The pukes or anyone else. Its also why he has had a picture with her and recorded two songs featuring her.
She actually is a good singer, not your average "indie" type granted but thats a good thing.
If she is or isn't with Tony who really cares? Do you think Joni M didn't sleep with people more popular than her, so did nico and others and yes men do it too.
Its still KY singing the songs and writing the songs and taking the stage on her own- that takes some courage.

Everyone has their own tastes as I am sure you will agree. You like, I dont.
I didnt mean to say she can not sing, she obiously can sing its the style I do not care for.
As I alluded to in the earlier post I think she is interesting and a little more like a musical piece of art.
I also do like many artists introduced to me through Morrissey like Jobraith, Klaus Nomi, Damien Dempsey, e.t.c. Others I have discovered for myself and loved since knee high to grasshopper. as I am many many years old.
Like Bowie, Roxy music,Patti Smith,Sparks.
I still love Bowie and Roxy despite Morrisseys X communicating them so to speak.
Roxy due to the hunting. Yes I am veggie too.
I just dont always agree or blindly follow Morrissey on some things. Like being veggie for a start. Although I went that way. I think it is a personal choice. I dont like being dictated to by any one.
I think we are all equal and entitled to our own opinions and should be respected for it.
Yes, I agree it does take courage to get on the stage and sing. But, no one forces them to do it, they love it, they thrive on it. Its their dream. I personally cant think of anything worse, prefering to skulk in the shadows of life un noticed. I would hate to be centre of attention like that its my worst nightmare.
Please dont be too cross with me mr Murder, there is too much hate in the world already and many bigger and better causes to fight for that arnt about well paid pop stars wouldnt you agree?

Are you sure he really is a big fan of her music? i mean he does not praise her like the other artists he likes, he says there is nothing good really in modern music which is true(therefore i doubt he really thinks that much of her music, he hasn't said he does that much really).
and yes i do think it is partly to do with the fact she worked with bowie.

I'm sorry, but I think her voice is very shrill.
There a very few female singers that I like, but Kristeen Young is one of them. I find her unique & refreshingly different. Her lyrics say something to me & live she radiates an amazing energy.
I can't ever sing along to her songs though, as I'm far from reaching her high notes! :-)

PS I would never blindly follow anyone and Morrissey has some awful taste in music at times. I just happen to think that Kristeen is one of Moz's better choices..I also happen to think the bile people puke towards Kristeen is unfair and seems to spring from jealousy half of the time. As I say to fan or to a person in the know its as
obvious as day that Moz likes her and some people just hate that.

The word jealous is overused. The concert at Eindhoven is just happening. Kristeen Young is the opening act. About ten people twittered about her and all were in horror.
