Thread: Article: Morrissey: Norway massacre is "nothing" compared to the actions of fast food chains

Just when you thought Morrissey couldn't make himself look like an even bigger prick...... 2011 will go down as the year when he finally lost what little credibility he had.

No justification for this later outburst. Try telling this to the parents of the innocent who were murdered. Maybe we can joke about Morrissey's own cousin who was murdered and see how he likes that.

Yeah, it might be in bad taste but this is just what a pop singer quipped during a live gig in Warsaw. What's the big deal?

If it were the PM of Norway who said it then it would be news.
Except he didn't say that did he? According to a poster above who says he was there the quote was "we all live in a murderous world, as the events in Oslo have shown, but worse things happen in the likes of MacDonalds and KFC."

For a man who has made a career based on his erudite handling of the English language his comments are ludicrously insensitive and he fully deserves the flak he's getting.

This is what he said exactly:

"We all live in a murderous world, as the events in Norway have shown, with 97 dead. Though that is nothing compared to what happens in McDonald's and Kentucky Fried shit every day."
Honey you'll find how to know me.

Moz picked a perfect time to implode after all the musical crap he's put out since "Ringleader Of The Tormentors".

I'm glad he didn't self-destruct when he was doing things like "Viva Hate" "Your Arsenal" and "Vauxhall And I".

At least we can harken back to when he was actually good.

Back on topic--he is just like Lady Gaga and the others who say/do things to keep their names in the public eye.

I really hope/wish someone "calls" him on this at one of his shows--oops, Morrissey will whine and hide in his dressing room.
Brilliantly put! I couldn't agree more with everything written above.

Munich Air disaster 1958 victims? Would you have saved 100 chickens to prevent that Moz? And, let's say Your Mum was attacked by a pack of wolves Moz...and passed away, but animal control had to kill all 12 wolves? According to you, the wolves dying would be worse than Mum? Of course not. Not that you give (or have ever given) a F*ck about your fans (and I've been one from 1982-2011), just think a few times about what you say and maybe....before talking, get someone's opinion who's "in tune" with the World.

Personally, my view is that Morrissey is absolutely bang on. I can almost see the reason some people are outraged but every argument they put up appears to fall flat (again, all in my view). However, I do agree he could have phrased it better rather than being rather blunt. I do believe he cares about the poor people of Norway and I think the tragedy here is that people will turn against him thinking he doesn't.

Hi Morrissey: Your comments work at using truth about "Meat IS Murder". Ours If we eat meat. " American Television has red meat commercials, then pharmacutical commercials". "Does anyone see a connection here?" Copley Hall 8 Dec . San Diego. 2009. Warm regards & Good Luck Moz ... d & m

I used to like the Smiths.

    I used to like Morrissey.

    I am STILL Norwegian.

ALL albums with anything "Morrissey" in them have just been trashed. I actually had a great time, breaking and destroying them in any way possible. It does NOT bring back my friends, but quite frankly, I did not expect it would.

I will NOT come back here. I will NOT have anything to do with Morrissey in the future.

The original article is untrue. It referred to "Meat is Murder" as a hit.
