I'm glad there's still interest in this. I tried to track down the best sounding versions of all tracks. Unfortunately, "I Don't Owe You Anything" and "Wonderful Woman" are still very poor quality. Hopeful, higher quality versions will be unearthed someday.

The sources were wav files of the original Rough Trade UK CD pressings, my own copy of the "This Charming Man" CD single (which has, to my ears, a slightly different mix of the BBC version than "Hatful of Hollow"), the "Reeling Around the Fountain" bootleg, the "Smiths at the Beeb" documentary (I personally edited and faded the tracks) and a few other wavs that a kind soul here sent to me. All sources were either CD, wav or flac.

Hmm...I may have to update my collection. Anyone know how to convert m4a to wav?

Post what you have... we may be able to augment it into a more complete collection. I have a lot of the BBC sessions in lossless as well, not sure of all the lineages, though.

I edited and converted the recent 6Music broadcast. It's lossy but better than most versions out there. The beginning is good but the end fade is slightly chopped.

    get_iplayer (128K AAC) > MediaCoder (44100hz PCM WAV) > Audacity (Edited FLAC).

Oh, my collection is complete. The only problem is finding higher quality versions of certain songs. Really, the only two that are poor are "I Don't Owe You Anything" and "Wonderful Woman."

You can try on Youtube Catcher, there you have the option to convert in several modes...

I converted it using MediaCoder. It's free and easy to use.

Would you prefer a rar with all of the tracks or individual links to each track?

Big RAR would be best I think... who would want to pick and choose when the songs are this great?

Seconded, I would prefer a RAR to download with all the tracks. Here's hoping. Cheers!

May be of interest, 6music re-broadcast the Sept 1983 Peel session this morning on the Live Music Hour.

Listen again... starts approx 46 mins in

It easier just to put Hatful Of Hollow on, all the tracks are on there...

Is that version of 'How Soon Is Now?' really a peel session? It just sounds like a remix. All the instruments and vocals are just the same.

My understanding is that it's the same basic music bed as the studio version with a few slight differences. For example, if you do a side by side comparison, you will hear that the bass line is slightly different.

Sorry for the delays, folks. I think I will just use my Mediafire account for the tracks.
