I don't resent anybody the fruits of their success but a lack of consistency in politics is a little telling don't you think? And yes, I have a lack of respect with other champagne socialists, but bringing the likes of Bono, Bragg and McCartney into this is hardly the way to bolster your defence of Morrissey. I find it really interesting that somebody can establish themeselves as the antithesis of Thatcher and her politics and then choose to live as a tax exile and make no comment whatsoever on what is happening in Britain today.

Let's just agree to disagree on this one.
Morrissey still sympathises with the struggles of the 'working classes'.
Just because he chose to make a statement in defense of animal rights instead of students tuition fees this does not mean that he agrees with the policy.

A couple of things you probably ought to take into consideration:

1. Morrissey generally places more importance on animals than on people
2. Morrissey strongly believes that formal education is a waste of time

Regarding this article, I too have wondered if Morrissey shouldn't address human rights issues a tad more. I've come to the conclusion after much introspection that we all choose our battles and the metaphor of our fighting style resonates in every arena. So Morrissey, channeling Govinda or Gopala uses the platform of animal rights to make his statement and the rights of men follow in sync.





In short I ignore these tirades. He knows what he's doing.
