Finland is another culturally dead country. So no, they don't do it better.
Norway has Munch, the greatest painter and a-ha, the most underrated band ever. They also have Knut Hamsun and the rest of the decadent Oslo scene of yorn.
Boooooooo, Finland produced Aki & Miki Kaurismaki and Moomins (I know Tove Janssen's parents were Swedish).

And they have Susanna and the Magical Orchestra. One of the best bands in Scandinavia. Listen to their cover of Jolene or Condition of the Heart or Love Will Tear Us Apart.

And Denmark have Riket, the greatest tv series ever made. Trier is a genius, and yes, Ernst-Hugo too.

Finland have Edith Södergran, Elmer Diktonius and the other modernists. And yes, Aki Kaurismäki.

But Iceland? Did they reach their cultural high point with islandssagorna?

To be honest I can't really come up with anything good from Finland, maybe mumintrollen, I liked mumintrollen when I was small. And the sauna maybe.

Iceland have Geysir, the hot spring in Haukadalur, I've been there with my mum. I loved it. They also have Heimskringla and Snorri Sturluson.

Södergran is someone I sadly forgotten. She is naturally a great choice. And Kaurusmäki as well.
But popmusic? Can't think of anything good.

And Von Trier is one of the most overrated directors ever. He has nothing to say, yet appeals to so many pseudo-cineasts.

Have you seen Riket? If you had you wouldn't say such a thing! Have you seen Dancer In The Dark? One of the most devastating films ever made.

I have seen Riket, yes. What does Riket say? Nothing. But it is fairly nice done, aestethically.

Von Trier is one of the important filmmakers at the moment although I don't like some of his films.

Scandinavia is just Sweden, Norway and Denmark but then there's also "norden" (I don't know what it's called in english, is there a term for it?) which also includes Finland and Iceland and "Färöarna" (Ferie Islands? What is the english name?).

There are different interpretations of what actually is scandinavia. But generally it is interpreted as sweden, denmark, norway, finland and iceland.

That does not make anyone "important". That was pretty weak statement.

Must a work of art necessarily say anything? It is one of the funniest things ever made. A cross between Twin Peaks and a really funny sit-com, it couldn't get any better.
