just watching control (story of joy division) and got to thinking if a were smiths movie were to be made... who would you get to play the band? who do you think should direct it?

Morrissey- Michael Sheen
Johnny Marr- Paddy Consindine
Mike Joyce- Tom Hardy
Andy Rourke- Sean Harris
Director- Michael Winterbottom
2006- Blackburn King Georges Hall, Manchester G-Mex (22&23/12)
2008- London Roundhouse, Doncaster Dome, Sunderland Empire, London Hyde Park
2009- Liverpool Empire, Hull Arena, Manchester Apollo (22&23/5), Brixton Academy (21&22/7), Birmingham Symphony Hall, Leeds Academy,Sheffield City Hall, Alexandra Palace, Liverpool Echo Arena
2011- Dunoon Queens Hall, Hawick Town Hall, Grimsby Auditorium, York Barbican, Bradford St Georges Hall, Leeds Academy, Stoke Victoria Hall
I'm imagining this big montage of Moz and Johnny jamming in the bedroom, their first gigs, cinematic shots of falling gladioli etc, ending with the trip to Rough Trade and Johnny marching in with dramatic music (like Battle Without Honor or Humanity by Tomoyasu Hotei) and slamming the cassette demo onto the desk or whatever. That's what the film would be like if it was hollywood.
So the bloke who was Ian Curtis in 24 Hour Party People is now Andy Rourke and the bloke playing Rob Gretton in the same film is now Johnny Marr
Of course, there was a bloke in that film who did play Morrissey but ended up on the cutting room floor save 2 clips on the extras DVD bit
I wonder who would be James Maker

And Simms was Barney in 24 HPP!
There is defiantely one scene where Wilson pulls out in his car from Granada and Morrissey stops him, showing him the New York Dolls album, and Wilson tells Morrissey to get in and off they drive.
There may be one more scene can't remember- I tend to concentrate more on my very small role in the film as an extra

What part you in? The British talent on show in that film is brilliant

my movie would be about the court case.
Lil Wayne as Morrissey (as from previous thread)
kanye west as Mike Joyce
R Kelly as Johnny Marr
Andy Rourke as himself
Judge Judy as the judge.
Mine would be stop action photography. I'd use The Cat's Mother's dolls. It would be narrated by some little Mancunian kids. Stephen Fry would want to get in on it, but he's banned.
You're a big man, but you're in bad shape. With me it's a full-time job. Now behave yourself.
mine would be
a construction paper cartoon![]()
Valar Dohaeris
The (re-created) Hacienda scenes. The very last one, Coogan brushes past me. My face is pretty much cut off, but it is definately my grey hooded top (and hood cord) that he passes by.
On the soundtrack CD, the inside sleeve, I am there in full facial glory, bottom left hand corner, dancing away

I can't even get past the horror of imagining all the things that could go so wrong with that film, to the point where I can begin thinking about actors. The only actor who springs to mind that looks a little bit like Morrissey is David Morrissey, but needless to say he would be too old.
Control. Isn't that a fantastic film though.
cheers
Craig Cash for Mike Joyce!
