uninstall. That is the best advice I can give you, but I don't want to ruin your thread. Can you access the old computer? I would email it all to myself, or send it through mediafire, unless every song on your ipod was purchased from apple. My reading of this which I found using this cool new thing called google, seems to say you can't transfer non-apple-purchased tracks from ipod to computer.
I downloaded sharepod. That program can take the songs of the ipod and put them on the PC. Then it automatically puts the songs into iTunes.
Hope this helped
There are programs you can download, that will read what's on your ipod and transfer them to your computer.
Are you on Windows or Mac?
I was trying to figure this out last night...and what I also found (I guess because it's true) is that you have to use a third party software to do it.
I was also going to ask what you guys recommended.
I have a pc.![]()

If you're on Windows, open Windows Explorer, go to Tools > Folder Options > View, and turn on the option "Show hidden files and folders".
When your iPod is plugged in, you should see it as an external disk.
When you turn on the option to show the hidden folders, you'll see a bunch of hidden folders on your iPod, with random weird names on them, as well as on the mp3 files.
Copy them all into a new folder on your computer.
Then go to iTunes > Options > Advanced, and make sure that you have these options checked:
•*Keep iTunes Media Folder organized
•*Copy files to iTunes
Once you do that, just drag those folders into your iTunes
iTunes will copy all those mp3s into its own media folder, and will rename and place all the files according to their tags.
Thank you so much, Flax.
Now I know how I'm going to spend my evening!![]()
I need help too with I-tunes (and thanks for the tips above- I did it before concerning folder managament but had completely forgotten)
Anyway my question is how do I update the music in my Windows Media Player library onto I-tunes? When I installed I-tunes it did it automatically but as I did not have an "empty" I-pod at the time I kept on putting stuff into Windows Media Player to play on another MP3 player... hence I seemingly have a load of music which I can't get into I-tunes

I never used windows media player and it's been a while since i used windows, but, Windows Media Player is only displaying shortcuts to the songs that are on your hard drive. First you have to find out where the files are located.
Once you found where all the files are, you can open iTunes and just drag the folders into iTunes.
Remember that it's very likely that iTunes will read all those songs and copy them all into its own media folder, which means you're gonna have duplicate files on your computer.
So if you manage to find the files and drag them into iTunes, you can later probably delete the folder you dragged.
To make sure that iTunes copied everything and you're not deleting your songs forever, go to Tools > Advanced, and check if the options Keep My iTunes Folder Organized and Copy Music are checked.
Here is a thread where I showed a few tricks you can do with iTunes:
