Break up songs

oye terence

ampersand after ampersand
A friend of mine recently had a very bad break up and I told him to listen to these two songs , a lot.I was thinking of other great break up or bitter post relationship songs.

What are some of your favorites?

Pulp - You're a Nightmare

And this is a crappy version, live and without Jarvis. But, all I could find...
Lush - Ciao

Sticking with the Jarvis theme, oddly enough...

about the power of
Pulp-His_%27n%27_Hers.jpg

so I am at this party a few years ago, and it was what we call up here "a burner party"
so everybody was on acid, or mushrooms, or e or whatever
anyways, for some reason I end up DJing and I am no DJ so I just put on the above Pulp album
soon after I notice this couple(who I personally know) fighting upstairs, I could not hear them but it looked bad
then by the time the album is over, these other people who were at first making out in the jacuzzi, well, they were fighting now too :squiffy:
and some point after that when the music is dead again, my friend Christopher says to me:
"Dude, you should not have put that album on."
its funny now :lbf: but at the time I was on a lot of acid and booze and so I was like:
omg, i did that, that album did that
crazy, I know, but yeah, nobody has got to convince me that Pulp and break ups go hand in hand...

I do recall Pulp's "Don't you want me anymore?" having a certain poignancy in that situation though I was the one who had walked out. But generally, I don't think there's such a thing as a good break-up song - just good songs you ruin for perpetuity by playing them in a break-up context.

cheers

Cut - The Cure

Lyrics cut in 1 minute in.

(If you haven't noticed by now I'm going through a HUGE Cure phase)

Ok why isn't it working for me? I'm doing the youtube tags with this inbetween W1pNzWSO64I

That song by the Greg Kihn band. Worked a treat at school discos when I was a wee nipper. I think I have it on Solid Gold Hits Volume 21 or something. Excellence.
