Thumbs up Re: Solo-era versions of Smiths songs (2 disc set)

This is an excellent idea for a compilation. I don't think this has been done before (although I'm sure I'll be swiftly corrected if it has...).

    So thanks! It's really good!

It has been done in 2006, but the links were no longer available.

    I won't download those.

Morrissey's versions for his own songs are really gorgeous. Boz's work in "Please, Please.." is incredible. I didn't know that Morrissey had played "Hand in Glove" in his solo career.

I remember when he released "This Charming Man' as Skull b-side many fans complain about band's work in this song. I don't agree. This charming man is wonderful.

Exactly! What was that all about? Not that I'm complaining, Salinger is my favourite author and I already have these from the http://www.terebess.hu/english/salinger.html site before they were removed.

Again, not complaining, it just seems a bit "random".

Is this the same as the Sing Your Smiths compilation? Think I got that off thepiratebay about a year ago.

    Great compilation, thanks!

One question, "Nowhere Fast" is taken from Leeds as i remember the before-song banter (i recorded the start of that song on my cameraphone), is any more of that gig available as audio?

    Nothing Ever Dies

I know it's been done here before, but I don't know how recently so I put my own updated compilation of solo-era Smiths songs together.

These are culled from many sources and so I would like to thank the people who provided the original bootlegs and uploads of the shows, none of whom were me.

These comps are not chronological, just put together in the order I think sounded best. None of the versions used are from offical catalog album recordings.

    The time span is 1988 - 2009.

    Disc 1:
    hand in glove
    death at one's elbow (2009)
    still ill
    rubber ring
    the headmaster ritual
    death of a disc dancer
please please pelase let me get what i want (2002)
    paint a vulgar picture
you just haven't earned it yet, baby
    meat is murder
    this charming man
the boy with the thorn in his side
    london
    half a person
    vicar in a tutu
    william, it was really nothing
last night i dreamt that somebody loved me
stop me if you think you've heard this one before
    what she said

    Disc 2:

the queen is dead (claremont 1997 encore)
a rush and a push and the land is ours
    ask
    bigmouth strikes again
    shakespeare's sister
    how soon is now
    stretch out and wait
death at one's elbow (wolverhampton 88)
    is it really so strange
    cemetry gates
    panic
please please let me get what i want (2007)
i want the one ican't have
    girlfriend in a coma
    shoplifters of the world unite
    nowhere fast
some girls are bigger than others
    i keep mine hidden
    sweet and tender hooligan
there is a light that never goes out
can you please re-upload again? I would love to hear most excellent collection on my long bus ride to work manana. maybe use megaupload.

    thanks,

Got a much better recording of The Queen Is Dead from Denver 2007, apart from that this is great, thanks.
