The first LP I owned was The Very Best of Spandau Ballet (1985). Well, either that of Human's Lib, by Howard Jones. They were presents.
The first album I bought under my own steam, with my own money, was Raw Like Sushi by Neneh Cherry, on cassette. Which I still think is an awesome album.
The first CD I bought was in the early 90s, and it was The Lexicon of Love, by ABC. Replacing an old record that was getting worn out. I suppose that counts.

I remember when I was in kindergarten having The Archies album ("Sugar, Sugar").
I remember buying Wild Planet by the B-52's right when it came out in the fall of 1980 - that might have been the first record I bought with my own money. I turned 13 a couple months after it came out. It's still one of my top-5 favorite albums of all-time.

I love how Nugz had to pick an acclaimed and respectable album as her first ever. She wasn't just a Beatles fan from birth, but she selected the best Beatles album of all as her first album ever. Wait, second best Beatles album. The best was Revolver. Yeah, whatever, the Beatles are overrated anyway.

I just looked on Wikipedia and apparently they still exist! It says they were recently touring Europe and Asia...completely unnoticed, it seems!I always liked them.
