Thread: The Mackie penpal letters

    Default The Mackie penpal letters

I have an original copy of the Robert Mackie booklet, "Words by Morrissey": photo copies of letters Moz sent to him as a pen-pal in 1981.

    Would this be worth anything?

Those letters are widely available to read from various sites including some threads posted in general discussion forum, value is only the cost of photocopy and postage.

    Some people might be interested.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think I remember my copy (before I sold it) was stamped in blue or red ink. Photocopies would have the stamp come out in black.

You are sort of right Phill. I was told that Mackie photo-copied all his letters and made them into little booklets. He then stamped the front to show they were the original copies of his letters. Therefore only those with the red stamp on the front are the original copies of the originals......is this making sense. Anyway this is mine

    Thanks Black Eyed,
Yes that makes sense.... they are original copies of photocopied letters that was turned into a 'fanzine style' publication!
Clever idea with the coloured ink stamp

I have decided to have a bid on this and i do think its an origional copy if that makes sense. It would have been so easy to just colour photocopy the cover. Its a shame that Robert hadnt signed and numvered them. I dont think that it will sell for more than about 20 quid.

Why don't you ask Black Eyed to send you photocopies of her copy?

This item is back on auction on ebay.

I previously put it up for auction 2 months ago but the winning bidder never paid for the item.
