Everyone can make simple choices. Just don't put a piece of meat in your mouth. Regards to wearing leather, you can simply limit it but you don't have to die of guilt if you do wear leather shoes, belt, etc.

We don't live in a ideal world. If you start stressing about leather in shoes, belts, etc, life can get quite difficult.

I wear leather shoes to work most of the time but I don't eat meat. it's quite simple. But I would not wear a leather jacket because it is so easy to pick up an alternative.

But a non-meat diet can also be very unhealthy: crisps, biscuits, ice-cream, chocolate are all "vegetarian" but not necessarily healthy. But I am sure most vegetarians know this of course. Most meat eaters eat all of this stuff as well as meat.

It just boils down to not eating meat which is very easy.

If you want to start a discussion about a healthy diet.....then that's altogether a different issue.

I think the biggest misconception about vegetarians is that they only eat "rabbit food", ie. carrots & salads. You could live on crisps, mayonnaise & chocolate - and still be a vegetarian!

But not wearing animals is hard to avoid? So basically you've chosen the easy invitation to vegetarianism and avoided the not so easy option

No one says you have to die of guilt but when it comes to preaching you better stay shtuum. Or next time you tell someone you don't eat animals make sure you add... but I wear them. The same dead cows we eat we wear.

Not entirely true. Animals are kept in very bad conditions and killed explicitly so that people eat them in masses. How many animals would one have to kill specifically only for the reason to turn their skin into two pairs of shoes for every living human being? How far would one get if one only used the skin of naturally died animals for shoe production? Can you tell?

It is a bit lame for somebody who eats animals and does not even make an effort to not eat them to make judgements on what others are wearing. Do the first step and then come back.

You want to talk about people not being consequential in their behaviour. How about the people who have cats and dogs and birds as pets and treat them like family, buy them expensive animal food that contains other animals that they would never eat in natural life, bury them in a ceremony in the garden and mourn them for ages. People who get all emotional about their pets but eat animals without hesitation.

What does this paragraph even mean? What conclusion are you drawing exactly?
