    Default for your interest

Actually when I went to buy Skull singles in April, I saw many Smiths 7 inch singles in HMV Oxford Street.

I can't find anything - not listed on the Smiths page of HMV.com http://hmv.com/hmvweb/listSearch.do?...omponent=16968

Can you help with a link - what is being released?

    Dave
    Jools Holland: "Knock Knock!"
    Morrissey: "I'm not in!"
    Jools: "Oh, come on."
Morrissey: "I refuse to open the door."

It appears to be only the four studio albums, but that's still £68 for nothing different at all. Although I'll still end up getting a set! Nothing about it on the Rhino webpage which is a bit strange.

Wouldn't this now mean that the original 4 records are worth MUCH less than before? if they're supposedly "re-releasing/remastering" the 4 studio records, than the originals will probably drop significantly in price, as I would venture to guess many folks would want the new ones?

You guys better hope they don't decide to "re-release" all of the 12" singles as well, talk about losing money?

The original standard vinyl records aren't worth that much - £10-£15 if you are lucky. So I don't think they will go down in price too much - it's not as if they are releasing a copy of hand in glove in a negative sleeve

How funny, we have not anything worthwhile in years in terms of reissue and now we get all these excellent stuff. As fas as i know, we will get part 2 of the 7 inch vinyl box and who knows , maybe next year. the 12" remastered and reissued with an upgraded sleeve..
    Cheers Moz

    Completely disagree.

Nothing new for years, boils down to there being no new songs. This is just another example of fleecing the fans......again. It's a fooking rip off, and there'll be no more more funds being released from the rome headquarters to sponsor this shite.

Recordstore are selling them for a pound cheaper than HMV. I will go for Rhino , when they will up for sale there as no sign yet. Maybe they will have another free promo vinyl/cd for the first orders....

When does the 7"vinyl box set 2 come out?

As I said...you all better hope that they don't "re-release" all of the 12" singles on vinyl, those originals would lose a ton of $$$ for sure, IMO.
Why would you want the originals, when you can get better copies of the new singles, you know?

Considering it's only just over 2 weeks to the release date, I'm surprised there is no mention of them on the Rhino webpage (are they going to bother?), the problem I have with Recordstore is that twice I've had vinyl off them which had been poorly packaged. So unless Rhino through in a freebie I think I'll pay a little bit more and get them from Amazon (£16.59), I've never had any problems with them.

Definatley another cash in attempt. Personally i won't be buying them, no point if i've already got the originals and re-issues on cd's. I'd rather spend the 60 odd pound on them all on something more worthwhile for my collection.

The only way i would buy them is if i was a completist in the sense that i've already got EVERYTHING else, and i still had more money then sense.

By buying these re-releases we are just encouraging the labels to continue to tarnish the Smiths legacy by going against everything they were against.

At least with the new re-issues of Maladjusted & Southpaw, there are extra tracks (and a tacky badge?) and some new notes. Not just the exact same copy of the originals.

    But each to their own.
