As far as " A" Sides go. "Shakespeares Sister" . Big time!
P.S.- Don"t you know smoking kills you?
"Death at one's elbow" from 'Strangeways ....'
... stupid song title, not terribly interesting lyrics. It marrs (no pun intended) what would otherwise be The Smiths greatest album. I mean, it's not *terrible*, but even one of the later b-sides, like 'Work is a Four Letter Word" or "I Keep Mine Hidden" would have been better, in my opinion.

No mamma let me go-hooo!!!!!

I can't help myself, I love smoking and I'm not joking.

It's Golden Lights isn't it?
Covers aside, I really don't think I can part with any of the others.
I agree with Death at one's elbow.
I still hate The Boy with the thorn in his side, it's certainly the whiniest, blandest Smiths single.

Do you smoke 'cause you're hoping for an early death?

Excuse me.. but 'Shakespeares Sister' is above the average Smiths song for sure.. That aggression.. same as in 'London'.. both superb Smiths songs.

Never did care for 'Sheila Take A Bow'.. Boring. But as this appears in a list with only 3 or 4 other dull Smiths moments in my opinion.. they can be forgiven for the gift that was the other 100 excellent moment (or however many Smiths songs there are.
PS, Buy yourself some Silk Cut Ultra Lows.. but I warn you, you have to suck real hard for a hit!
I love that song, too.
I even thought the band of the same name were rather great!

...you'd have to suck so hard you'll give yourself piles.

Why oh why would you want to smoke to get piles, wouldn't it be cheaper to just sit on a cold wall?
Anyone else got cheap tips for embarrassing sick notes?
Grim O'Grady
P.S. any mindless moron who puts 'catching clap from my mam' is just a bore, I think you know who you are.

It's not that miracle in terms of lyrics, but come on, the tune is a jewel, and Morrissey sings it like an angel.

Hey thanks, I've heard about! I'm not proud of smoking, but hell, I like it!

mmm... i like marlboro lights too.
and i don`t like very much work is a four-letter-word
It's kina fun but the lyrics are nonsense and now that I've heard it a million times it is my least favorite.
believe it or not, the lyrics are apparently meant to be about the different depths of female genitalia (or something like that; he implied that on an interview). It also mentions a scene from a Richard burton movie.
