Some people here have been bashing Moz fans because we're so pathetic and obsessive and worshipful. We dare to dream about our hero. Has it ever occurred to anybody that Morrissey is like that too? All those heroes of his ... the way he went nuts over 'a taste of honey' and stuff.

Anyway, Moz knows what it's like to be a loser. He FEELS for us.

Look - from that fanzine interview in Meloday Maker, March, 1985.

"BUCKETFUL OF BRAINS: Do you think they maybe use you as a crutch, because they can't sort out their problems for themselves?

Moz: Yes, I think so. But that shouldn't really be a shameful thing. In a very fundamental way, everybody needs friends and a lot of people don't have them. And a lot of people who buy records believe that the artists who make the records are their friends. They believe that they know these people, and they believe that they're actually involved in these people's lives and it's a comfort. We shouldn't have a condescending attitude to that."

So there. Let us be pathetic if we want to be.
